DOUBLE EDIT 2012:
For a last run I took this to the Zelda Symphony in Philly this summer and got interviewed for a web show! Check it out here: [link]EDIT [1/10/11]:
I took a quick photo shoot of this suit back in October during Halloween weekend once the real
wig came in, so I replaced the photos (oh god though, the stupid wind threw my costume around so bad. That's pretty much why the scarf is in the way of the symbol in the first one.) You can see more photos, along with a better description of the suit, here: [link]
Still need to make the final edits to this, but I probably won't be wearing this again until the summer con season
Wow guys, long time no post, huh?
Anyways, check this out! This is a sorta super-secret project I'd been working on since the last week of August! I went to the New York Comic Con/Anime Festival this weekend, and as a way to be an ultra geek I decided to be Sheik's Super Smash Bros. Brawl version. What you see here is COMPLETELY hand made, absolutely nothing was bought (other than the wig). I actually finished it the night before the con and even then there's still some unfinished details, but they're pretty insignificant (like the fastener things on the side of the poncho, for example)
Making this was actually rather difficult at times, mainly due to the fact that this is the first cosplay I ever actually made. Since I'm such a beginner a lot of stuff came out as extremely amateurish, but I don't think it's bad at all for me being so new to this. I'm actually very proud of it, and for Sat. and Sun. I was the only Sheik there! I got a lot of pictures taken; I didn't count how many on Saturday but 80 people took my picture on Sunday! I found a few Links too (but no Zeldas, alas), it was so much fun!
Unfortunately I only got like three pictures of myself, and as far as I know I'm not on the internet yet. So, behold this crappy little collage! I did the same pose for every picture, but the top picture was taken in the middle of the day when my costume was still holding together. The quality isn't superb since it's from my phone, so I added the bottom one for better detail, but that was taken at the end of the day so it looks a but more worn out.
But anyway, this was such a blast to wear! The bandanna made it really hot and it takes like forever to put on, plus I can't put it on on my own, but I would totally do it again. I'm very proud of it, especially since I had so much trouble making it (three
sowing machines broke on me and the first wig I bought didn't work out and the second wig didn't come in in time, so that's actually a fairly good emergency replacement wig I'm wearing.) It also cost me a good 200+ bucks to make, so I'm glad it was worth the money!
Hope you guys like this! I know I loved wearing it, and hopefully I will again soon (as long as I solve the heating problem for the summer cons) Hopefully I'll be able to take a photo shoot in this soon, but for now, enjoy this crappy collage! If you have any questions, just ask
