When The Cows Come Home To Roost

When The Cows Come Home To Roost

This is a combination of two expressions.

‘Til the cows come home [1616] and When the Chickens Come Home to Roost [1390]

TITLE: Surreal In Autumn Challenge, hosted by ManipulateThis .

THEME: Surrealism using one of the required Background Stock Images.

Skill Level: Novitiate, Beginner, Level 2

Due Date: Sunday, December 10th, 2017

There are two possible sources for the phrase, both with the same meaning.

It may refer to milk or dairy cows, who are put out to pasture, and not expected to return until it’s time for milking, possibly the next morning.

Or, it might refer to cattle let out to the common pasture, who may not return for weeks or months.

The first recorded use is by Francis Beaumont and John Fletcher published the comedy The Scornful Lady in 1616, with the line, “Kiss till the Cow come home, kiss close, kiss close knaves.”

This took quite a while to finish; although, a big part of that was resetting the computer, after it crashed, and reloading the drivers, etc.

It’s like the Rebellion of the Tools around here.

Seriously, it seems unlikely that da Vinci or Vincent van Gogh ever faced such a rebellion from their tools.

Speaking of which, it was interesting to read research suggesting that Vincent’s ear was cut off by Paul Gauguin, during a drunken argument;[55] and, was shot by kids, who he was covering for, not by himself, that he didn’t even have access to a gun in the calibre of the abdominal wound.

Surrealism is a cultural movement that began in the early 1920s.

Visually it presents unnerving, illogical scenes with photographic precision, allowing the unconscious to express itself,[1]

With the aim to "resolve the… contradictory conditions of dream and reality into… super-reality".[2][3][4]

Salvador Dali (1904 – 1989) was one of the most prominent Surrealists .

Destino is an animated short film released in 2003 by The Walt Disney Company

Destino is unique in that its production originally began in 1945, 58 years before its eventual completion.

The project was originally a collaboration between Walt Disney and Spanish Surrealist painter Salvador Dalí.

It features music written by Mexican songwriter Armando Domínguez and performed by Mexican singer Dora Luz.

It was included in the Animation Show of Shows in 2003.

Listening to:

Rachele Lynae - Party til the Cows Come Home (Official Video) - New Country Music

The Andrews Sisters - Show Me The Way To Go Home (c.1958).

Bing Crosby - Home On The Range

Those Border Collies are going to have a time trying to herd that herd.

Take Care.
