Starry Night

Starry Night

This is to celebrate “Earth Hour”, to raise awareness about Climate Change and Light Pollution.

Earth Hour, is a worldwide movement organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

Non-essential electric lights are turned off for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30, as a symbol of commitment to the planet.[1]

It was started as a lights-off event in SydneyAustralia, in 2007.

Since then, it has grown to engage more than 7,000 cities and towns across 187 countries and territories.[2]

This reminded me of The Explorer At The Event Horizon, a tribute to physicist Stephen Hawking.

It’s impossible not to look at all the stars, planets, and galaxies in the night sky, without being astounding, and wondering how it all works.

The first time I remember getting far enough out of the city to really see the stars, outside of the planetarium, it was astounding.

I thought only an expanding universe could explain why the night sky wasn’t awash in starlight. It’s astounding.

As Professor Hawking said, the one thing I can figure out is why anything exists.

Earth Hour: Cities Around the World

Why You Can't See Stars on the Moon

Listening to:

Don McLean - Vincent ( Starry, Starry Night) With Lyrics

10000 maniacs (Natalie Merchant) - peace train

Look up, way up…

Take Care.  And, Stay Warm and Dry.

It was nice to see the first Chipmunk up from hibernating, though a little groggy.

They came over to see if falling on the ice was a new game, which was nice of them.

I thought maybe I’d just wait for the ice to melt and watch the stars.
