Psyche’s Room

Psyche’s reflections in the mirror-

Thanks to the Coaches, hosts, and Stock Artists, for everything.

-----------------------------------------------

This started with Psyche In The Mirror ... (Made for the -Issues- Contest, hosted by MoonlightImages);

Which was selected for the Short Challenge #30 - Special Edition,  hosted by The-Imaginarium. (Group 3, with petrasrenata and deathbycanon.)

Thanks to the Coaches, FrozenStarRo and TheCallyBear, for all their help and patience.

Fortunately, this was finished before the tablet and graphics driver quit. Hopefully, it won't too long to get it fixed.

End Date (Extended): November 7th, 2016

---------------------------------------------------------

This was also submitted to the MMC October Challenge,Theme: The Story of Death, hosted by PirateLotus-StockElandriaAeirmid.

Required Stock: One or Both of: Texture 197, by Malleni-Stock, and/ or Cuervo Texture 4by Falln-Stock

(Both were used to distress fabrics and surfaces in the reflection)

When I was so sick and down to around 32 kilos, it was startling doing sketches from the mirror. Mirrors can be deceiving, and even tyrannical.

-----------------------------------------------------------

This also has elements from the Fascination With Fright Contest, hosted by THE3-ContestEvents.

Theme: Create a Horror Photo-Manipulation End Date: 5 November 2016 (Central European Time) Limit: 2

(My submissions were Death and Taxes and Harvesting Time.)

Memo:

The first working title for this was “Ana’s Room”. “Ana” is sometimes used for Anorexia. Everyone has something, and knows someone wrestling with something. Like everyone, some friends have been hospitalized, dealing with this and other serious conditions. Sadly, not everyone recovered, though fortunately, with some good support and luck, others managed to get passed it. (I miss my friends.)

----------------------------------------------------

Notes:

[1] “Death Be Not Proud”, Sonnet X, from John Donne’s (1572–1631) Holy Sonnets or Divine Meditations, is a sonnet.  It was published posthumously in 1633.  He was a leading figure in the metaphysical poets of 16th Century English literature. The last line alludes to 1 Corinthians 15:26, "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death".

[2] Anorexia is the decreased sensation of appetite, it is often used interchangeably with anorexia nervosa.

Anorexia nervosa[1] is an eating disorder characterized by a low weight, fear of gaining weight, a strong desire to be thin, and food restriction.[2] Many people with anorexia see themselves as overweight, even though they are underweight.[2][3]  Complications may include osteoporosisinfertility, and heart damage, among others.[2]

The term was first used in 1873 by William Gull to describe the condition.[13]

[3] Mirror Fasts: -‘Mirror Fasts’ Help Take the Focus Off Yourself”, Skin Deep , Kate Murphy, Aug. 14, 2012, The New York Times.

-Vivian Diller Ph.D., Face It, Some Women Try 'Mirror Fasting', Sep 11, 2012, Psychology Today.

[4] "Do not go gentle into that good night" is a poem by Dylan Thomas (1914–1953).[1] Though first published in 1951,[2] it was written in 1947.   It is part of In Country Sleep, And Other Poems in 1952.[1]

-----------------------------------------------------------

Listening to:

- Bif Naked - "I Love Myself Today/ (Not like yesterday)" Her Royal Majesty's Records

- Death, Be Not Proud by John Donne - Poetry Reading

- Molly Sandén - Freak

- Dylan Thomas reads "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night

"Tango Shoes" (Bif Naked). (I always wanted to learn to tango.)  Hiking boots can also work, I’ve been told.

---------------------------------------------------

A “Mirror Fast” might be a good idea, if the mirrors start yelling.
