Introducing The Windigo, Page 9

Introducing The Windigo, Page 9

This is a continuation of the continuing story of Cassie Greenaway, a.k.a. “The Windigo”, from Introducing The Windigo, Page 2 -Page 3,  Page 4, Page 5, Page 6, Page 7, and Page 8.

Cassie Greenaway was a Grad Student, specializing in Companion Planting, from Native American cultures, when a rival student contaminated her specimens with CRISPR spliced GMO organisms, transforming her into the “Eco-Terrorist” the media have dubbed “The Windigo”.

Doing whatever she can to protect drinking water and air quality, while she can.

Cassie’s Aunt Carol, a ND, has called Dr. Astor and her partner, Liz, at the Nova Clinic, to help her niece.

Now, they just have to get her there, before the media or authorities get her first.

Introducing The Windigo, Page 9:

“While Carol and Emily are getting her niece, Cassie, ready, we need to set up things, at our end,” Dr. Astor said, looking around the office, at Nova Clinic.

“Alice, prep Bay C, please,” she said, tapping her ID badge, interfacing with her AI (Artificial Intelligence) DA (Digital Assistant).

“Yes, Doctor,” The computer acknowledged.

“But, that’s in the old NSI section,” Liz protested.

“Yes, I know it is,” the Doctor, answered, dismissively.

“L, have you contacted Dr. Jenny and our other partners that we’ll need them to take some of our patients, for a while?” She asked, walking around the office, checking things.

“Yes, already done,” Liz said.

“Good,” the Doctor said. “What reason did you give them?” She asked.

“I told them that we had a ‘family emergency’,” her Office Manager answered.

“Good, that’s about right,” the Doctor said, checking the exam rooms.

“But, you can’t mean to use the old NSI space?” Liz challenged, following her, not willing to let the point drop.

“Why not?” Dr. Astor shot back.

“But,” Liz was stunned.

“I want to bring this girl in hot, if we can,” Dr. Astor explained.

“But, no one has used those spaces, since your sister, Izzy,” Liz protested.

“I don’t want to lose her on the way in,” the Doctor explained.

“Hes, she’s not Izzy, you know,” Liz said, reaching out and holding her arm.

“I know,” she chocked back her response.

“My sister, Izzy, would know how to handle this much better,” she said.

“And, if I had been there for her, maybe she would be,” she concluded.

[Memo: The description says that the office was closed because it was inaccessible to wheelchairs.

Really? If there was a demand for office space, surely the renovations could probably be done.

Surely, accommodating disabilities is never as costly as turning away potential clients.

Office space is always hard to find.

Sadly, offices had told me, “We don’t take people like you.” "Or, we can't accommodate your disability."

And, more than once, a Receptionist has said, “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.” [Maybe, more of a Bouncer, really.]

If I had a square nickel for every time this has happened, I could buy not just a Green Tea, but a whole franchise.]

Some of the credits were missing when this was first posted. I don’t know where they went. But, they’re here now.

The hallway also looks a lot darker then when it was being edited. That’s weird.

Thank you, for your patience.

Nota Bene:

Introducing The Windigo was awarded an Honourable Mention and Writer’s Award in the Original Character Contest - WINNERS, sponsored by Disabled-dArtist. Congratulations to Everyone and Thanks.

The Wrath of The Windigo, a scene from a “live action feature film”, turned out well, made for the Challenge in the style of Action Movie, hosted by Stewed-Tomatoes.

Marie LeBlanc, Artist, Writer, Photographer, prints at 500.px, of photographs related to “Canary in the Coal Mine Exhibition”, at Martha Street Studio, 2016.

Marie is a photographer with MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivities). She has been featured on CTV News Winnipeg, radio, and print media; but, is struggling to find a suitable place to live and afford appropriate health care.

Amelia Hill, in Australia, became ill with Environmental Illness/ Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, after moving to a new house. To try and recover her health and energy, she is currently working on building an ecologically inert house.

It has been an arduous process and on-going process.

From Web.MD, Environmental Illness Overview

An environmental illness can occur when you are exposed to toxins or substances in the environment that make you sick. These health hazards may be found where you live, work, or play.

Exposure to toxic chemicals can cause a wide range of common medical problems or exasperate other conditions.

Early treatment includes reducing your exposure to what is making you sick.

Such as improving the air quality by getting rid of the source of pollution, or with air filters, not allowing smoking in your environment, decreasing mold, etc.

Update: (April 24th, 2017)

Marie LeBlanc is a Photographer and Street Artist, who has been living with Multiple Chemical Sensitivities [MCS].

A YouCaring fundraising page, to help retrofit a caravan for her disabilities, for her to live and work from, Endangered Human Art Project.

Amelia Hill, from Australia, has been building a small house, to accommodate her disabilities and Multiple Chemical Sensitivities MCS, since suffering chemical pesticide poisoning, which she’s chronicled in her blog and on-line, Heal Amelia's Life.

Unfortunately, while her new place is almost finished, her health has deteriorated, as touched on this story about the ‘Bubble Girl’.

Amelia’s friends and family have started a fundraising page to help cover additional medical procedures, to try and improve her condition,
