Introducing The Windigo, Page 12-

This is a continuation of the story of Cassie Greenaway, a.k.a. “The Windigo”.

From, Introducing The Windigo, Page 2 -Page 3,  Page 4, Page 5, Page 6, Page 7, Page 8,  Page 9, Page 10, Page 10.A., and Page 11.

Memo:

Cassie and Emily also made an appearance in The Windigo Lives, submitted to Make Your Storybook, April Challenge, hosted by We-HEART-Photomanip.

In this case, the characters from the graphic novel take on a life of their own and seem to come alive, as they often do.

-----------------------------------------

Previously:

Cassie Greenaway is a Grad Student, specializing in organic Companion Planting, when someone contaminated her lab with GMOs; transforming her into “The Windigo”.

After suddenly appearing and disappearing from the UN, where she urged action on protecting drinking water and air quality, Cassie went to see her Grandmother, Emily and Aunt Carol, a Naturopathic Doctor, at Dr. Carol’s condo.

After seeing the news footage of her niece, Cassie, as ‘The Windigo’, as the media have dubbed her, Dr. Carol called Dr. Astor, a geneticist and immunologist, to help.

Dr. Astor told Dr. Carol to bring Cassie in right away; while she and her partner got the med bays, that her sister Izzy used to use, with her partner D, in the subbasement of the Nova Clinic, in the old NSI fallout shelters.

Now, they just have to get Cassie there, before the media, or the authorities, track her down, first.

Dr. Carol hurried down the hallway, and found her niece, Cassie, in the bedroom, with her Mum, Emily, pilling on clothes from the closet, while Cassie shivered.

Carol was concerned she might be going into shock, “I don’t like you colour,” she admitted. “You’re a little pale,” she said.

“She’s GREEN!” Emily shot back, dismayed.

“Triage, Mum; one thing, at a time,” she cautioned, holding up a hand.

“Cassie? Dr. Astor wants to talk to you. Before we bring you in for her to see you, are you up for it?” Dr. Carol asked.

Cassie nodded, shaking, “I think so,” she said, her teeth chattering. Emily wrapped her in a cloak, massaging her arms.

“Good,” Dr. Carol said, handing Cassie an ID badge, that they were using for a comm-link, through her own AI-DA [Artificial Intelligence-Digital Assistant]. “The comm-link’s patched through Jeannie and Alice [Dr. Astor’s DA],” she explained.

“Okay, thanks,” Cassie said, pressing the ID with her thumb, so it would recognize her on the comm-link.

“Good evening, Cassie,” Jeannie said. “How may I be of assistance?” She asked.

“Um, Dr. Astor wanted to talk to me?” She said.

“Cassie?” Dr. Astor’s voice came over the comm-link. “Can you hear me? This is Dr. Astor,” she told her. “Thank you, Jeannie, Alice.”

“Yes?” Cassie answered. “This is Cassie, Cassandra. My Aunt, Dr. Carol, said that she thought you could help?”

“I hope so, Cassie,” Dr. Carol said. “I saw the news feed of you at the UN, this afternoon,” she explained.

“Yes?” Cassie bit her lip, nervously.

“And, I want to bring you in, right away,” Dr. Carol explained.

“Oh? Okay,” Cassie shrugged.

“I want you to come here, before the media or the authorities track you down,” she explained. “Do you understand?” She asked.

Cassie nodded. “Yes, I’m beginning to.”

“I want to treat you, in the same medical facilities my sister, Izzy, used to treat her friend, D,” she told her. “My sister, Dr. Isis Astoroth,” she explained.

Cassie’s mouth fell open, in shock, “Dr. Astoroth? D?” She was stunned.

“Yes, Cassie,” Dr. Carol answered deliberately. “Do you remember them?” She asked.

Cassue struggled, to regain her breath, “Yes, Doctor,” she answered, her voice low, and barely audible. “Je me Souviens; I remember,” she said.
