Memo:
The working title was “The Cardiff Giant Awakes” or “Dragon’s Teeth”.
Notes:
[1] Father Time is the anthropomorphized depiction of time, carrying a scythe and an hourglass or other timekeeping device, which represents time's constant one-way movement, and more generally and abstractly, entropy.
This is based on several sources, including the Grim Reaper and Cronus, or Chronos, as the Lord of Time.
Cronus, or Kronos, in Greek mythology, was the leader of the Titans; until, he was overthrown by his own son Zeus and imprisoned in Tartarus.
Chronos is the personification of Time in pre-Socratic philosophy.
[2] The Cardiff Giant was one of the most famous hoaxes in United States history.
It was a 10-foot-tall (3.0 m) purported "petrified man" uncovered on October 16, 1869, by workers digging a well behind the barn of William C. "Stub" Newell in Cardiff, New York. Both it and an unauthorized copy made by P.T. Barnum are still on display.
[3] In The Chronicles of Narnia, Father Time appears in The Silver Chair as a sleeping giant living beneath the surfaces of Narnia. It is said that Father Time will awaken at the end of days as seen in The Last Battle
[4] Dragon's Teeth, in Greek myth, when planted grow into fully armed warriors.
Dragons feature prominently in the legends of the Phoenician prince Cadmus and in Jason's quest for the Golden Fleece.
