Description
I'M GOING TO TELL YOU ALL ABOUT NEUSCHWANSTEIN OKAY
It was built by Ludwig the second. The entire castle was a homage to the works of Wagner because he loved them that much. Ludwig was a bit of a loner and very reluctant king. He built castles all over the place and was sending the kingdom bankrupt because of the massive amount of detail he was putting into these castles. To get rid of him, they declared him insane and arrested him. One evening when Ludwig was on a walk with his physician, they disappeared and were found drowned in the lake the next morning. It was never discovered if it was murder, suicide or an accident. Because of this, the castle was never finished but what remains is completely opulent and over the top and absolutely gorgeous.
Whew. I probably fudged a few of the details but that's the basic gist. I wish I could post pictures of the interior but alas, we were not allowed to take photos. So you just get the outside. Which inspired a Disney castle or two.
