Apologies for the late episode! I had planned to do this yesterday as normal, but I woke up ill and slept pretty much the entire day. I'm feeling better today but had a few things to do before I could post this up.

**Don't forget to enter my little mini contest by creating your own version of a shark wearing a giraffe costume. Entries are open until January 1st, and I'm accepting all levels and types of art. Basically, it's cool if you or your kid or your dog wants to enter. ;) Prize will be chosen at random.

And now, welcome to This Week, a feature series I post (almost) every Friday, showcasing a handful of the art that comes through my message centre. These pieces are chosen at semi-random based on several different factors, but everything chosen for TW is something I consider fav-worthy.

to the girl teaching herself to flyShe is trapped by a moonlit mind,
come silent in the night.
Surrounded by clouds, she is blind
to barren worlds; their light.
Searching for a sign, she survives,
although she knows she cannot thrive.
          Searching for a sign.
          Searching for a sign.
Anything to remain alive.
Her voice calls out, though no one hears,
screaming for redemption.
A shadow comes to kindle fear,
adding to the tension.
Someone please help me, she shouts, cries,
though on her cheeks, her tears, they dry.
          Someone please help me.
          Someone please help me.

But her screams turn to desperate sighs.
Weeks pass, and she remains divine,
still searching for escape.
Vines corkscrew themselves on her spine,
leaves curling up her shape.
Borrowing wisdom from her brow,

another pretentious poem about insomniaI swallow words in my sleep,
little nightingales that flutter
at my throat
and will not let me be.
I wake with their wings
on my tongue, their four-
o'clock impetus
to be recorded (as
though they were of any worth)
and here is my secret:
I have been writing while you have been sleeping.
I am going to need a lot of tea.

As always, I hope you enjoyed, and please feel free to comment and let me know both which artpieces you enjoyed the most, and of course don't forget to give the artists some love by favouriting and/or commenting on the pieces themselves!
