I can be easy to lose sight of the person you were, in favor of who you are now. But without looking back, there is no way we can see just how far we have come.

A comparison piece I put together just to see how I looked both before my surgery, and after, around 10 months post. I wanted to lay it out this way to show how I look so closely at myself and every little change that occurs.

are your parents supportive?
(also they did a good job on the surgery!)

I am extremely lucky to have supportive parents. My mum and dad are both children of the sixties and they are spiritual accepting folks. My sister too is so strong and accepting of me, I really couldn't have hoped for a kinder more accepting family.

:iconthumbsupplz: Excellent!

I feel both envy and inspiration as I look at this one.. I hope this is not a photomanip?

It's only a photomanip in the sense that I put myself then beside myself now, but both versions of me are the true me before and after surgery.

Thank you so much for your comment and taking the time to look at my work!

I understand the *before and after* parts.

And I wish you lots of success as you continue on your journey. :cuddle:

The top surgery looks great! My friend is also FTM and so I'm very keen on learning more about the transition, so thanks for sharing this photo :)

I absolutely love this idea and this piece - the before and after fitting together so well that it's hard to believe there's somehow not two of you standing together! This is one of the best pieces I've seen to illustrate a transition, and wow, just how far you've come Ku, you are a constant inspiration <3

Thank you so so much again Neko! I was going to do a few like this, but I couldn't get the images to fit together quite as well as this one. I think I'll do a drawn version of this when I get a chance as well. <3

Wow, awesome. It must feel liberating to be finally boob-less!
You look great. Love the beard! I'm longing for the day I can grow one as well! :)

It is very liberating, but also just natural. When I first had the surgery everyone was asking me if I was excited or if I felt ecstatic. It was hard to answer, because I felt a post surgery depression and anxiety and fear. I also just felt relieved that it was finally done, like I was how I was supposed to be. So it's was a strange thing. But now almost a year on it feels wonderful.

Yeah, I can imagine. It's just one step closer to your true self.
And surgeries can be scary too, so I'd be glad when it was over too! (though top surgery is no priority right now, as my chest is almost invisible in a sorta baggy tee. I'd LOVE to finally swim again though. I haven't done it for a long time, except around very close friends (one of my friends has a small pool in their backyard))
And even though mine are small, they are still... I dunno... jelly and weird. Lol.

Aw, I really like the image of you face-to-face with an older you. And wow, such a difference - the chest obviously but also the BACK HAIR you are such a dude. Also, dunno if it's just the beard growth but you look sooooo much more square-jawed. Like, I don't think I ever read you as girly/androgynous even before the beard, but definitely the jaw & beard has made you so MANLY as opposed to boyish. Rambling... anyway super-cool photography as ever!

I notice all of those things as well. While I enjoyed looking boyish I think I'm growing up now, so manly is the thing. No idea what my face shape is without the hairs actually, I'll have to convince Sallie to let me shave one day so I can take a face-shape picture.

Hey there mister, want to spend the rest of our lives together?

So strange to see how much has changed. I mean we were talking about the hairiness the other day but until you see it against a few months ago its hard to really realise how it came on. (Prolly all those EXCESS DOSES you got after the meds changed.)

Your chest looks so amazing <3 Its super great how it came out.

And I like the idea that your old self and your new self can stand face to face and be okay.
