Fire Escape by calzephyr Fire Escape by calzephyr
Fire Escaple is a wool tapestry that won second place in its class at the Calgary Stampede Western Lifestyles arts and craft show. It took about four months to complete!

Thanks so much! I really enjoyed using all the colours and I was worried about doing the legs (at the time). If I could change one thing, I would make the horse's head bigger, but I was afraid of making it too big. That's the thing with tapestry - you weave weave weave and then beat the threads down.

I love tapestries but I'm bad at them. I can do pin looms though! And yeah this looks like Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron. It's very well made!

Oh right, there was the fire in the movie! I have been watching the new version on Netflix and it's so adorable...

I made this weaving on a Martha Stewart knitting loom kit. It helps to have a drawing placed on the back of the loom to follow along. I made a dorky video on YT showing how I did it by the way - www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mhcl5…

Thanks. I lost to a basket, but it was a very nice basket :-) I had to figure out the year from a YouTube video - 2013. That seems forever ago!
