So here is my personal checklist of how to tell the difference between a real mental health professional and a fraud.
1. Do they take initiative, or do they expect you to tell them what to do?
A good mental health professional will know what to do, and take the lead from the get-go. A bad one will expect you to take the lead — basically asking you to walk them through what's supposed to be their job.
