Poor Dia. She tries hard to be popular, but she's not slutty rich cool enough for those two. They have high standards, after all. If she even wants a chance with them, her skirt should be a couple inches higher, at the minimum.

My Diane "Dia" Orsini and ~erin-hime's Penelope "Penny" and Phoebe Karalis. I'd originally drawn these three together, because when I was first writing Ursa Major, I sort of envisioned Calista's older sister Dia as trying to be popular, and attempting (should they ever meet, which is unlikely) to fit in with Psyche's older sisters, because they're rich and in the news, so they're cool, right? Of course, the two elder Karalis sisters, being what they are, wouldn't exactly be thrilled at this kid, and one whose father is a 'mere' millionaire rather than billionaire, trying to hang around them. So they ignore her, which is probably the closest they could get to kindness. ;P

Of course, that was when I'd only written, say, the first chapter and I hadn't really gotten a handle on Dia yet. Sure, she's a little ditzy, but nowhere near Phoebe-ditzy, for example. Sure, maybe she's a little materialistic and being girly, but it's nowhere near the extent of these two. And, more importantly, though she and her sister can have rough patches, it's absolutely nothing compared to the sheer hatred the two sisters have for their baby sister Psyche (the feeling is mutual, I think >.>). The point is, Dia actually cares for her sister, and while they're drastically different people, and have different tastes, she still attempts to make her sister feel happy when she's down, and so on.

So the original idea doesn't really work out by this point; Dia would probably be disgusted by their attitude, or bored by the fact that all they seem to do is start drama. I mean really, when you're billionaires, you can afford to do awesome stuff like go to awesome parties, go to awesome fashion shows, and generally do stuff. Instead they're alternately making out with, or fighting with, their 'friends' on camera, and it's just...really? It might have been thrilling or shocking the first time it happened, but once you get to the ten thousandth repeat of that same scenario, it really loses its' punch. You have to wonder why they're friends if they're constantly backstabbing each other. Even Dia can see that's stupid. :P

I know I was attempting to make the Karalises look slutty (as they usually dress) and Dia just to look cute, but I had no idea how easy that would be. I love Dia's dress. :O_o: I wasn't too sure about the pattern at first, since I had one that I liked just as much, but ~erin-hime suggested it, and now that everything's shaded and all, it really looks nice. Dia looks better than I expected in pink. ^^;

It's funny how everyone wound up in red of some sort (or pink, in Dia's case). Sure, Penny has the least amount of red, but it's still there. And I gave Phoebe the outfit from this picture simply because I liked it more than the one in her profile. The fact that it fits the red theme is just a nice coincidence. >.> It's funny, I wasn't expecting the Karalises to look that good as chibis thanks to their ridiculous proportions, but they look strangely good. For some reason, despite using basically the same body template, just flipped, Phoebe looks like she's showing off more cleavage than Penny. :O_o: Could be just the way their outfits are styled.

But I love how this turned out, even if it started pretty randomly. I hope you like this, ~erin-hime!

Dai, what are you doing? You know better than to hang these two horrid people. Come on now; you know its the youngest sister that you'd get along with best.

I think its hilarious how you can plan for a character for months, but when it comes down to actually writing them, they come out completely different than you intended. Phoebe, for example, was supposed to be more malicious like Penny, but instead she's coming off as an airhead that's just trying too hard. And I love her for it, actually. Luckily, Penny's still coming off as extremely evil. >.O But yeah, I never really 'saw' Dia as the same sort of girl Penny and Phoebe are. She's a bit more girlish than social than Calista, sure, but it was clear from the start she had a good head on her shoulders.

But still, the concept behind this is fun. :D Dia trying to fit in, not because she wants to, but because they have the commonality of being older sisters. But considering she's not into creating drama (yeah, as rich as they are, you would think they'd be more into doing things, but that's so ~*~mainstream~*~ and expected, and they've already done stuff), they care nothing for her. Well, Phoebe might be interested in talking with her, since she's not as picky as Penny, but if Penny's around and snubbing her, you can bet your ass Phoebe would as well.

But that's just their loss, since it's clear that Dia does look way cuter than either of them do, even with their sexy outfits. Still, it works out in the end - the guys who want easy girls will gravitate to the sisters, whereas the ones with sense will go for the cute one.

(So yeah, the concept of the Karalis sisters looking slutty and Dia looking adorable came through with flying colors.)

I do have to admit, even in chibi form, the way you drew Penny and Phoebe actually did turn out really pretty. I think it's the hair, to be honest. I was watching you ink/block out the colors, and thinking 'wow, Phoebe's really pretty' the entire time. Granted, so it Penny, but I think it's the long hair on Phoebe that makes her prettier. And I think it might be the way you shaded that has Phoebe look like she's showing more cleavage than Penny? I think if you added more lines to the breasts for Penny, it'd look like she was revealing more. ^^;

Of course, then there's Dia. I'm in absolute love with that dress. I didn't think you'd pattern it when I first saw it, but it does look really pretty. And I'm glad you went with my suggestion. >.> It does look rather gorgeous shaded, and she does look great in red/pink. And it's hilarious how they all ended up in red. :D But Dia rocks it so much better, mostly because she, at least, is modest.

I do really love this, and it's a great way to draw minor characters that wouldn't be otherwise drawn. :D And I love the concept behind it. So, you know, love all around, even if short skirted chibis look so funny. But that's the point, right?
