I haven't uploaded anything since DA's AI disaster months ago, but I couldn't bring myself to give up all my art from 2003 until now. I had to make an exception for this, because...the original picture is 20 years old 💀 erin-hime 's Odessa Wilson (left, in red) and my Aria Laken (right, in blue).

erin-hime and I redrew this, ten years ago, and somehow we both managed to get something done for September 1st. It's no longer HP-related, both of these have been shifted into a fantasy setting and I'm happier with that. Odessa Wilson is now from erin-hime 's Angelus Dei, and Aria...I'm working on that one. >_> I originally took the barebones concept of her and turned it into Coral from Aspera Virtus, but Aria herself is gonna get something too.

As for the setting, I wanted to keep that sort of shop feeling they were in, without it being so "this is a modern coffee shop trying really hard to capture that quaint English vibe". I went with more of a tavern feel. It's not strictly medieval, since this is partly worldbuilding for me too, but I like it. (For the record, my worldbuilding begins and ends with "I like it".)

It's funny, I didn't think my colouring had changed that much over ten years. I must've picked up something over that decade though, because wow! Odessa looks better due to the fireglow and consistency, but they both look great. I love their designs. The best one, of course, is Regalis, Odessa's dragon, who is chilling on the table with his own drink. That dragon is living the life.

I am glad I managed to catch  the timing before it became too late, because this is something that needs to be done.  I mean, it makes less sense now - going by what you've told me about Aria's story thus far, they're sort of from different times, but meh.  They're also from different stories/planets, so there's that.



This really does look amazing!  I always love doing these collabs, since you always make my art look so much shinier!  Plus...background, lol.  This really does make more sense, them sitting around in a tavern discussing their adventures before heading out on another one (I mean, I think the night idea would have worked fine, seeing as those don't have to be coffee mugs).  Aria recounting something ridiculous that happened to her while Odessa calmly (which is out of character for her, admittedly, so maybe morning does make more sense?) listens.



I sort of wanted to do a straight redo of the original picture, since that's what I did ten years ago, since this was supposed to show off our improvement in art.  I mean, there's nothing about the picture that says that these are HP fan characters, after all.  But the whole idea behind this was to show ten years improvement in general, and hey, why not show off design changes as well?  I mean, ten years ago, these characters hadn't changed at all, but now, they have their own stories and whatnot.  (I count Aria, even if she doesn't have a written story yet, since you have based Coral off her.  Loosely.)



And yes, adding in Regulis was a brilliant idea on my part.  I probably would have added Metallica (HO Odessa's dragon) if I had gone with a straight redo, since I have no idea why I didn't include her in the original, but look at him!  lol, knew it was a good idea to randomly give him a mug as well.  :P



I'm still so in love with Odessa's new design, but Aria turned out great as well!  I wish I could have made her pants as puffy as the design, but that's be hard with her sitting down, lol.  She still looks really good, and I wish you were more confident in writing nowadays, since I do really want to read her story!  I really love the atmosphere of this one, and it just turned out so nice!  I love it, and I'm soooo glad I managed to catch this in time and that you managed to finish it for the anniversary!



(Yes, 💀💀💀 is about an appropriate reaction, because 20 years, holy hell, what happened?)
