Yes. HB is really versatile and you can blend it so easily, rather than having to worry about what pencils to use. It makes it so much less confusing. I used to use so many pencils and then I tried out just using one, and it worked so much better and I got more comfortable just using the one pencil.

Okay you are welcome to add me on whatever you want. :aww:

No problem! If you ever want help feel free to ask me anytime. :)

Well, this drawing really is that good. I'm sure many would envy your skill, and the result of this drawing. It came out great.

-I use an HB, 0.5 mechanical pencil for the face.
-I only use a white charcoal pencil if I'm ever going to use charcoal on a graphite drawing. Just for minor highlights or details. I used it for the eyes and skin on my "Freckles" drawing
-I use mechanical pencils for 90% of my drawings. HB is what I use, and it's 0.5 size.
-Most of my drawings are 14x17" or larger, so it's A3+

This one looks awesome, the overall proportions of the face and hands are just about perfect. I really like how you gave her skin great contrast, it makes it look shiny but while still maintaining a realistic feel. The texture of the hair is also very well-rendered, and it looks shiny and smooth. Really, you've done a wonderful job with this drawing. There's a few things that I can see that could be fixed up, a teensy bit.
Her eyes are a bit small, and too almond shaped. Even though Rihanna has smaller eyes in general, it's okay to even exaggerate it a bit on a pencil portrait's eyes because it makes it glow and look realistic. Also, the overall hairline is a bit too big and it looks kind of like a bowl. The way you drew the hair with the shiny textures and strands look realistic and you should keep doing it that way. When you do your strokes for the skin, you should layer the pencil strokes like a crosshatch, then blend it with a tissue, and do that over about 3-4 times to get a nice smooth skin texture.
The finger with the ring on it looks really nice, especially the details of the ring. It looks very very real. The finger tip could be widened a bit though, it looks a tiny bit shrunken and I think you can expand it. Also, if you want to achieve realism on the hair with small individual strands, you should take an eraser, cut it at a sharp point, and then make sure it's firm enough to just draw in the strands. it works very well. I use a sharpened eraser stick to do it.
I think what I like about this drawing the most is that it has a soft smooth shading. It looks like a charcoal drawing, and is very very realistic. The fabric on her shirt looks so soft that I could touch it. Keep up the amazing work Dave! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>
