Took a break from grading to do some more practicing--inspired by a hike at Fall Creek in Santa Cruz, though this doesn't really correspond to anything specific from that hike, and to be honest, doesn't really look all that much like the creek. Originally just trying to sketch without layers, but of course I ended up with something like 12 layers. Around 2-3 hours? Spread out over time with my sisters and nieces, so I'm not certain the total time it took. Adjusted it in a photoeditor (though I guess I also painted it in a photoeditor... Photoshop is more paintshop for me). Not sure how great the adjustments are, but I was trying to highlight the foreground better, since the mid-range trees were a bit too strong in the original. I think the real problem is the focus is more in the middle ground-- the foreground is a lot fuzzier than I'd like, while the middle ground trees are relatively crisp.

Nice colors! That waterfall looks as though it would have very delicious, possibly medicinal water.
