Well, Shit.

Now, I typically don't like to babble about my own personal life online, to a point. But.. today, I need to... I guess just vent a bit..or something.

Today, I found out some pretty crappy news. Altho, I'm not terribly surprised by this news since I started to see this was going to happen earlier on this year, but basically, without REALLY saying it, but we all know that they were saying it just in the nicest way possible...

My job is closing. In six months. So in April...yeah.

I told myself to not freak out, because I'm terribly prone to freakin' out and it doesn't get me anywhere, but it's just..REALLY hard not to. Basically, they will still have home positions that are available BUT only a certain amount of those positions are going to be available. I just have no idea what I'm going to do.

This really sucks because both Josh and I work there, so...like...yeah. We both decided that we're going to hope for the best and apply for the home positions but I dunno.. I really don't know.

This really puts a damper on a lot of things. First, we NEED to get out of this apartment (for reasons that needs it's own journal entirely.), but now we simply CAN'T afford it. I mean not that we could afford it anyway, but we were hoping that sometime at the beginning of the new year we would have been able to. We just have to stay put, until we know whats going on with our jobs.

In the meantime, I guess the only thing left to do is try and figure out where my resume is on my Mac or like, make a new one. The job market here is NOT very good so...gah.

So, I've decided that perhaps one day, I'll get super lucky and win McDonald's Monopoly game because I only need like, 1 stamp in each spot for the 20000, 50000 and stuff. We'll see how that goes. /sarcasm.

I'm debating opening up some kind of commissions or something, but I dunno. I really don't know. For my own reasons I haven't done commissions all that much but it could help us save up some money.

Well, the good thing is that this whole thing has kinda spark something inside me (again, because I'm a dolt and magical procrastinator....) to try and get my comic going, since I actually have these little art fantasies of doing my own comic. But anyway. I'm going to try and get that going or at least get back to it. I was doing really well with it and then it just stalled because real life got in the way.

And I found 50$ on the sidewalk two days ago. I was going to use it to buy a new outfit, but I guess I should save it, eh?

And I'm having a period-induced fat day. :iconnotimpressedplz: And headache. :iconimrlynotimpressedplz:

When it rains, it shitstorms, doesn't it? 0.0

You have 4-6 months.  Plenty of time if you work hard.

18 months ago my previous job decided to screw me over professionally.  It took 4 months of job seeking, a willingness to move to a new city, and a willingness to change fields but I found a new job.

Sometimes you just have to talk a good look around and try something new.

You know it is coming it is now time for something new.  Good Luck. and remember to step outside what you know you can do and try something new.

Thanks for your encouragement! I did apply for the home position regardless, because I thought I should atleast apply for it so that I have a CHANCE anyway. But I'm still going to look around. I'll even do something part time jsut as long as I have a job :)

The good thing is that I have a good record with my jobs (I NEVER call off, I'm always liked by my employers, I never get written up, that kinda stuff) so that will help me too I suppose :) Even tho I had a feeling this would happen, it still came as a bit of a shock because I didn't think it would happen this soon. 0.0

yep. it always seems to come faster than expected.

Wait a day or too to feel like yourself physically.  (sorry can't help with that one)  and then start fresh.  if you are both looking then you both have the option of doing lots of different things.  go forth and search far and wide.  don't limit yourself to exactly what you know.

I ended up in a similar field, but with different products doing a completely different job.  so go for it, now is your chance to draw a new life for yourself.(pun intended)  Be creative.

Yeah, it does suck! :( But the best thing to do right now is to keep my chin up and hope for the best. We both applied for the at home positions that are open so...hopefully something will happen but we won't find out about that until the end of November. At the VERY worst we can still go on government assistance until we find something and we'll get severence :)

GAHHH I know right? I think a lot of it is just the economy really. Everyone is trying to save money and cut corner where they can. And if people are willing to do a job for cheaper or the company has a better way to do the job that ends up being cheaper than they will go that route :( I'll just have to keep applying places and see what happens!

Try to find another job if you still can. It might not be much, but I think commissions might help. :( We all need to start somewhere, really, depending on how much you'd be willing to charge.

I'll wish you the best, friend. I know you'll pull through.

Yeah, I'm hoping I can get something with commissions. It would just be something to make some money in the meantime and help us save up some. I applied for the at home position that they will have but I won't find out what will happen with that until the end of November. Thanks for your encouragement!

As for teh commssions, its not like I won't charge a lot, and I'll probably start with maybe smaller things like bust shots, or maybe sketches? I don't know. I find it really hard to charge for my artwork, honestly. 0.0

Aw. :( I suppose you're right, though. I used to think my stuff was worth five bucks, but as the offers kept coming, I had to raise my prices. xD It's difficult to find the right prices, but once you factor in things like necessity, the tools used, and stuff like that. I mean, thankfully I only have a computer mouse and Flash, but other folks have pencils, tablets, etc.

Still though, I can offer advice if you need it. :) Or help.

See, my thing is that I want to price my art inexpensive, because I don't want people to pay a lot for my drawings. I REALLY REALLY REALLY love drawing, I do it constantly, and I do it for the enjoyment of art and the enjoyment of making people happy, but then you keep hearing people saying how people who price their art "cheap" are making all the other artists look bad, yadda yadda, artists being charged less than minimum wage...It's all just confusing. I've always just thought artists should charge what they want for their artwork. *is confused* I was thinking maybe thinking about 10 dollars USD but I dunno. I was even thinking of a Xdollars/hour system but I have no idea how that would work XD

My materials aren't particularly expensive, it's really just the paper I would go through and my paper can be costly sometimes...I'm a bit of a paper snob lol XD I've gotten used to using expensive paper because I like the way my art turns out on it! :D And maybe the pens I have to go through - but I have so many art supplies that I don't necessarily have to go through that much because I have most of what I need. I'll come up with something I guess! Maybe the kitties can help me decide! XD (probably not, but you never know. XD)

Aww no :( Im sorry to hear. I guess the best thing to do is start applying soon. What do you do by the way? I know things are still tough economy-wise. Hell Im still looking for a full-time job myself with still no luck. Though Im doing some part-time work here and there in the mean time.  I wish you both luck in the future.

I basically work at a call center, so I mean, honestly, it's not necessarily a surprise that they would close BUT we didn't expect this to happen so suddenly. I do customer service sales :) I did apply for the at home positions they will have but we won't find out what will happen until the end of november.

At this point I would be okay with a part time job, really just anything to make money lol! Full time work can be hard to find especially this time of the year 0.0
