Escape Scene continuation
1. From my vantage point high above the courtyard, I surveyed the scene with a critical eye. The castle itself was built into sloping mountain, carved out of the living rock, and constructed in tiers. The lowest tier was also the largest, the market and the commons, filled with bustling commerce. The second tier was a grand reception area for visiting nobility or honored guests. A ramp from the market would lead the approaching party up to the second level. After that, the higher levels could only be reached by entering the castle proper and following the wide, winding hallways. The third tier was the large open courtyard; a semicircular plan

I called my voicemail, and put in my pin…then I pressed pound.  I listened to a 20 minute recording that basically amounts to "press 1 to hear your message."  I pressed one.  Then I listened to fifteen more minutes of crap about w

Don't tell me...
Don't tell me about your fears. I've got my own fears, and they scare the hell out of me. Don't tell me about your sorrows. I've got my own sorrows, and they sometimes bring me to tears. Don't tell me about your joys. I've got my own joys, and they make me want to laugh. Don't tell me about your hopes. I've got my own hopes, and they seem just as far away. Don't tell me about your dreams. I've got my own dreams, and they make so little sense. Don't tell me about your accomplishments. I've got my own accomplishments, and they deserve recognition. Don't tell me about your plans. I've got my own plans, and I'm terrified they'll go a

His love smelled the same, just as he always did; his own musky scent with a hint of whatever deodorant he used.  For whatever reason, that smell always relaxed

READ!
You all are bastards. Take a second to read. I know I'm not great but for jebus' sake take a minute out of your day to at least read one of my featured deviations and leave a comment or a suggestion or just some TRACE of your existence.  VINDICATE ME, DAMMIT! XD
Holy Ba-jeeb-us
Whaaaaahaaahaaat was I thinking!?  I've spent two weeks in school so far, sitting through this remedial chemistry class. I'm not sure how I was even allowed to slip into this class seeing as I've already taken my Chem 2 AP exam (5, thank you).  Yet here I sit, listening to a man with a speech impediment rattle on about the temperature scales like I've never seen a bloody thermometer before.  Quite the contrary, we've been intimate. But enough about that...  Honestly.   Temp scales, Heat, Density... I thought to myself "Jeepers! You can coast through this class easy for the grade!"  I should have thought more carefully, I do know myself better
The REAL root of all evil...
...is instant gratification.  No, seriously.  Think about it.  Actually, don't think about it, just listen to what I have to tell you, then you can agree with me.  People have become so accustomed to getting what they want, one might even say gratified instantly, that they are no longer willing to invest any amount of time in anything they aren't reasonably certain they're going to like right off the bat.  The result:  the proliferation of an entire "judge-a-book-by-its-cover" generation.  No wonder kids don't read today.  They don't know if they're going to like a book unless they start reading it, and reading itself is just oh so time consu

Damn right they are! Sorry for the (exTREMEly) belated response, I pretty much gave up on dA. Been writing again though, so everyone can look forward to some angsty, self-satisfied prose in the future
