First of all, I'd like to say that I hope you don't mind the polls. I'm really enjoying getting to know you guys through the results but especially through the comments of them. I get to chat to some of you in the comments on my work, but it's nice to strike up a conversation over something that's about you and your opinion, rather than about my work. I'll probably keep doing them weekly so I hope you guys are having as much fun with them as I am!

Now, feature time! This week we're taking a look at Bento. I'm sure many of you have a good grasp on what Bento is, some probably more so than I do [and for those people feel free to interject where I may be wrong or add some information yourself]. But for the uninitiated, bento is basically what many westerners call a lunch box. It's a slang japanese term for a single-person serving of food that can be either home made or bought as takeaway. 

Unlike the western lunchbox, however, it's much more famous for elaborately arranged food. It can simply be beautifully presented food in a bento box. It can be picture bento, termed 'oekakiben', where the food is arranged to represent an image or scene. It can also be fan art or character bento, called 'kyara-ben', where the food is styled to resemble popular characters. 

Many other cultures have similar boxed food given a plethora of other names, but Bento is the one most people (particularly westerners) recognise.

Here on deviantART, there are many artists who use this branch of culinary art to express their love of a fandom, display gorgeous works of art, or just to make some really delicious-looking food. 

Mmm, I am so hungry after looking through this lot. Must be lunch time!
