My name is Mary Hoy. I consider myself a self-taught, self representing artist.
I've been creating since I was old enough to pick up a crayon and create my first mural on the living room wall (much to my parents' surprise). I was let off the hook with a simple scolding. I think this was the point where I realized that I was supposedly good at something which I also enjoyed. Art has been part of my life ever since.
In college I majored in media arts, with the hope of getting into animation someday. During junior college, I worked a full time job and was promoted multiple times over those years. With hopes of being promoted to a senior position, I was told I would need a bachelor's in the field I was pursuing. I transferred to a university to earn my degree in project management. During my studies, work became so demanding that I had time for little else. Then, during the economic downfall, I was laid off just months before graduation.
I soon realized that I had deviated from my true career path. Though financially rewarding, it wasn't for me. I decided to join the grueling yet somehow liberating path of the starving artist.
With my dormant artistic nature reawakened and my acquired business acumen, I hope to inspire others and share my creations with the world, one piece at a time.
