A collaboration with MythicDeviance (www.deviantart.com/mythicdevia…). In one of our conversations she proposed the idea of me trying her themes of "warrior babes" and offering/scrifice in a more colorful watercolor style. I don't usually do concept and design stuff, but it was really fun coming up with ideas for it. A bit of Conan the Barbarian, a bit of Clan of the Cave Bear, two or three bits of the Aztecs/Mexica and a whole lot of Heavy Metal (1981). Initially she was supposed to be a dark age villager making a simbolic futile last stand against incoming marauders, but I didn't like how drab it looked. And the viking/medieval fantasy stuff has been done a thousand times by now.
