Always loved your work with WEG.  You were one of my favorite artists with WEG's SWRPG.  Thank you for so many great pieces of art to keep the Star Wars feel alive.

Another refugee from the WEG Years, Mike. My true identity is Tony Russo. I wrote "Freetrader's Guide To Sevarcos", "The Pentastar Alignment" and "Blaze of Glory". Loved the illustrations you did of The Red Moons. You particularly captured some great expressions in the middle of scenes -- check out poor Tinian's horror at being forced to play a singer to escape an Imperial patrol!

I'm writing a new Red Moons novel, chapter by chapter, and putting it out there for free on my blog and on sites like Wattpad. A thank you to all the WEG fans. Feel free to stop by and see how Sully, Hugo, Brixie and the Colonel are making due in the time of The Force Awakens...

I was one of your fellow artists at West End Games back in the day. I was always in awe of your work and talked to the art directors and editors about it every chance I got. The WEG gig was the first job I ever landed all on my own- based on a single B&W illo of Bossk, Dengar and Zuckuss. I was so excited to be working on Star Wars stuff but quickly became disillusioned as I took on too much work and began hacking out sub-par drawings. Worse, I noticed others whose work was even more hacky. You set the standard, your stuff was always excellent. I desperately wanted to do work of that quality but alas, after three or four books, West End went under, owing me thousands of dollars. It's such a bittersweet memory working for them. I flip through the old guides from time to time and your work still kills. I always wondered if you were a super fan like me or just a great illustrator with good reference. Either way, well done. And it's great to find this stuff online finally.

Ahhhh....Joe! It's a true rush to "meet" another West End alumnus. *smile* The crash of West End Games was terrible. And the fact that you also lost payment really makes it sting. I was fortunate. I account was even with WEG when the company folded. It didn't, however, make it any less sad. My WEG Star Wars days were a blast, and I was sorry to see it all come to an end.

Was I a "super fan"? I would say so, yes. Of the first Trilogy, at least. It must have translated in my work...though I was oblivious at the time. It wasn't until much later that I began to hear from others (fellow artists and gamers) that my stuff had an impact. So I thank you for the kind words, Joe. I really did try to inspire the dedicated game-players who bought those expensive books!

Thank you, Jade...I'm glad you like it. *smile* Most of my Star Wars work dates back to the 1990's when I created a lot of illustrations for the Star Wars RPG (West End Games). It was such a blast getting the opportunity to add to the Star Wars canon!

Seriously? Wow. That's really cool! Congrats on the opportunity! I also read your latest journal entry about participating in the Transformers films. I was a huge fan as a kid, but unfortunately the movies never came to par for me *shrugs* Still cool, I like Bubble Bee. Optimus Prime was my favorite :P

Yeah...my West End days were truly a lot of fun, Jade. Hopefully I will be able to shake some time loose and do more Star Wars related art soon. Just for the fun of it. The Transformer project was very challenging...but rewarding. I will post pics as soon as I am able!
