Those are gorgeous horses! You drew them very well.

I never was a horse girl, but still, I think they're lovely animals.

I wish I could draw animals...period.

These are amazing!
Did you do this by memory or did you actually look at a horse (if so real or picture)?

All you have to do is practice. :) I used to be terrible at drawing animals. These are all from references, since I'm trying to study comparative anatomy between species.

And thanks!

Ah I see

Will do, I've been trying to draw dogs and cats (since there are some running around the house) but they look like blobs XD

I'd recommend staring with the skeletons and muscles, then work on the real thing. :)

BTW, it almost sounded like you wanted me to do an autopsy on my cats and dogs XD

Heh, the hoof drawings remind me of the time when i had a theoretical test for my rider's passport (uhm not sure if it is called the same in English xP so literal translation ftw!)
and i had to learn how a hoof is build and to do that i drew it. ^^
I also redrew the whole skeleton but i always had prints lying in front of me. xD
I aced the test :>

Oh, cool! So you had to take a test for riding? Do you teach horse riding or something?

Not as a main job but i help a friend of mine who is actually a teacher. ^^
I still struggle if i should get a horse or not, since i cannot tell if i have enough time to care for it the way it should be taken care of.
If i get a horse i don't want to share it with someone, so it gets enough exercise. :/
I started with the classic or English style of riding, at least it is called "English" here in Germany. xP But then i took a liking into the Western riding style and fell in love with it. :3
You can take several small test for riding: The little and the greater horseshoe- those small test are called for children mostly.
They are basically for how to take proper care of your horse and if you can handle it.
Later there is the rider's pass, which allows you to ride freely without a caretaker and you are insured against anything that happens, even thought the owner of the horse is not which you and such stuff. There was a small first aid course and that theoretical test here. Included is also a test out in the all-terrain, which are mostly fields and a few forests here, and on the general riders tilt yard. (gosh so many words i don't know if they are alright in English xD)
I do think some people don't care about that stuff. ^^ But for my later license it was necessary and it was fun!
Mostly those test and license test are for the classical riding style and tournaments for those, but oh well, they are still an achievement. :>
Gah, typed to much :typerhappy:
Sooo now you have a bunch of stuff you might find very strange. :D

Yes, in English they're called English and Western style. :) What do you call them in German?

I can understand that you aren't sure about getting a horse. Even having a dog is a huge responsibility (if you want to take care of it properly), so I bet a horse is much more time-consuming.

Wow, that's fascinating! And don't worry, I understood you perfectly. :) I don't know if we have anything like the rider insurance in the US, but it sounds like a very practical policy. Was the first aid course about human first aid in case a rider is injured, or horse first aid?

Well, they are called Western and English, but the English style is also called "Klassisch" so classical and "Dressur" which i cannot translate proper. x.x

Good think is I already know which race i want it to be, if i decide to get one... That can only be changed if i train a horse and fall madly in love with it. xD
A Quarter Horse is my "dream" so to say. They are awesome Western-style Horses and most of them are really playful, at least the ones i've "met" and trained up to now. I almost bought a 3 year old which i helped training because she was so lovely.

Well, it was a First Aid course for about humans, but also some basics what to do if your horse gets injured. In most cases, the horse doesn't get huge injuries on a trip, since they know how to avoid them. But if not and it gets heavily wounded you have to call a veterinarian and keep the horse still. There are no band-aids for horses which you can carry with you all the time. :/
If it's only a bit you have to walk the horse home so it doesn't have to carry more than the saddle over it's own weights but that's common sense somehow. xD
I think some of that test and licenses and the insurance policy came from Vienna... or at least there is something related to the Spanish Riding School of Vienna and all that. x_X

Hm, maybe Dressur is something to do with dressage?

I've met a couple quarter horses, though most of my limited experience is with Tennesse Walking Horses. They're so pretty. :)
