Tsaheylu: The bond...age. Get it? Wow, that´s hilarious.

So... Where did it went?, All the hype, all the excitement, All the expected cosplay, All the lore, all the fanfic and fanpics... after the movie release, it just... vanished.

It was marketed as a game changer, it was supposed to be the next big shit. It was just a loud fart that faded fast.

It was a fun ride, with some 3d thrills, but it was predictable, forgettable. It didn´t brought anything new in terms of story. The whole story was just an excuse to use as many CGI and 3d as possible during the movie.

The best comparison that came to my memory is what I felt while watching "Cars" after having watched "Dr. Hollywood".
I knew the story, I knew what was going to happen in terms of story arcs. There was no surprising plot twist, there was nothing to keep my interest, no deep lore. There was only "future caveman elf wannabee pocahontas with overgrown  cat smurfs in 3d" and when that first impression grew thin, there was nothing more left.

I Didn´t even liked the design decisions they took with the Naavi. I know they had to look alien, but the way their eyes were placed so far apart, made them look like they had Down syndrome. It was never clear to me if they had genitals or not. Did Neytiry had nipples? Vagina? (nude version  ;) ) Did jake had a dick? How did they reproduce? through their tail? if so, how do baby navi are born? If they reproduce connecting their tentacled pony tails, why does they connect with the animals with that organ? wouldn´t that be equivalent to zoofilia in human standards? They had 4 fingers, like a low buget cartoon. And they had glow in the dark moles. They were bipedal but in their evolution they still had tails that were not prensile and served no purpose. (fuck! I forgot to draw the tail!!!)
Panthers with antennas and additional limbs (like Odin´s horse), Rhinoceros with scaraby-insect flappy head ornaments, double winged pterodactyles, it was like "add more limbs to make it more alieny looking".
They sold you the impression that pandora was the dangerousest planet in the universe, but in the end it was like "yeaaay, friendly animals fighting for the planet!".
Not buying it, and I believe no one really did.

I had a vision about how I wanted this pic to result, but I had to make decisions among the way. Not a bad pic, but not what I originally had in mind.
Couldn´t get the sterile white creamy room to provide enough contrast to make neytiry stand out, so I had to go with a dark room and a spotlight. I realized that given her personality, she wouldn´t be scared, she would be angry at her captors. I tried to cabroonize her proportions into a more curvy figure.
Too many light effect layers, that I almost lost track of them. It is one of those pics that could have been finished earlier but you just kept adding details and it still didn´t left you satisfied.

anyway enough ranting. I hope you like it more than I did, I invested lots of hours and had to get this out of my system.

Cabroon out.

I'm kinda wondering what those metal things are that seemed to be aimed at her.

Don't tell me you haven't seen Harry Partridge's cartoon on the subject-matter:

Given the angle, we can just say her tail is behind her legs where we can't see it. I love her helpless rage and how unimpressed the humans look, they're like "Look at the alien warrior princess, bet she's making all sorts of vows for revenge. How cute."

Oh, Avatar. The brief rivalry it had with District 9 was fun, and personally I always liked to think that it took place in the same universe as Aliens-both had marines and Sigourney Weaver, both directed by James Cameron, and the robot suits were like a combat version of the power loader robot. As for the film Still, the sequel might be better. It should be out any day now...

Apparently people didn't like it so much that Disney invested heavily in the concept and has since opened one of their busiest and most successful park additions to-date (soon to be overshadowed by the much larger and heavily over-branded Star Wars) and has both space and plans to expand the area if the sequels are successful.

Regardless, good art! It's no secret that the first thing humans would do with an alien species would be to detain and examine it, and this could include some more "intense" methods.  ;-)

Have you heard that James Cameron is planning four sequels (none of which will get one cent from me BTW)? If 2 and 3 flop, however, we'll be spared 4 and 5 :)

neat piece of work, just a shame about the tail (and her missing queue!).

Also na'vi do indeed have sex and conceive the same way humans do and as a consequence have all the sexual organs humans have. Tsaheylu with another na'vi is just a sensual way to connect their brains together, not actual intercourse.

I wonder where did you get that information... I couldn´t find out about it in my research.
About the queue, the original idea was that a scientist would be "examining" the tendrils while neytiri was bound, but at some point, I got side tracked and forgot about the concept.

I found it here, under "mating practices"…
