I bet you forgot about her, some of you might not even know her at all.
That´s my specialty, obscure or forgotten characters reimagined in bondagey situations.

If you are a 90s kid, you might remember the cartoon "captain N the game master" which was a 20 minute episodic nintendo commercial. But with all the craze about the NES back in the day it was cool.
I hated how they had these iconic nintendo characters, but they had to portray them so flawed in order for the main character to stand out from all of them ("the game master" thing, remember?). Simon belmont was portrayed as a stupid, asshole version of Jhonny Bravo, mega man was a blockhead, pitt was the useless one and so on. They were always causing trouble instead of helping solving them.
It was interesting to see versions of the 8 bit wolrds reimagined for a cartoon. Sadly the cartoon only lasted a couple of seasons until it was cancelled.
I really wanted to see samus on the cartoon (she appeared in the comic book) but she never made it since the show was cancelled.
So this is Lana, princess of videoland. A somewhat generic but distinctive design for her. I like the hair on top of her head, reminiscent of Tara from the Attack of the killer tomatoes cartoon. Her colors were a bit difficult to handle. Her color pallete goes from warm to cool and when selecting any other element around her (tentacles, background, mother brain) it made it difficult to distiguish one element from the other. I had to deal with the lighting and texture of the tentacles to make them look organic and different  from the pink parts of her dress.
Mother brain had to be part of the design from the beginning. At first the pic orientation was vertical, but Lana covered most of MB. So I changed the orientation and the position of them.
MB had a huge area on the pic, and it drawed the attention to her, so I had to reduce the contrast and put a smokey screen on her cristal pod to redirect the attention towards the Princess.
Background is an image search for "alien science lab" or something like that, integrated into the background with some tweaks.

Enjoy your trip through 8 bit memory lane.

Cabroon Out.

I totally feel you on the whole "Samus"-thing when it comes to Captain N.
On one hand, I would've loved to see them pull of a competent female action-hero like Samus in Captain N*.
On the other hand, when you remember how they portrayed characters like Simon and Megaman (and even Link and Zelda), I would fear for the worst. They'd probably have her played out like a some supposed badass who easily gets captured by eggplant-wizard, just so Kevin could show how awesome he is when rescuing her.
Best case scenario, it'd be a special episode with just Samus and Lana.

But I have to admit, I have a fascination for the whole "video game interpreted as an 80's cartoon"-thing. Both for the cheesyness, but also for how, ahem, "vivid" the creators interpretations of the characters could be, what with how limited their access to reference-material would've been back then (I mean they thought "Metroid" was the name of a PLANET!).
Makes me chuckle when I think how other video games would've been portrayed...

* I've never read the comic, only seen scans.

In hindsight, Mother Brain is hideous nightmare fuel.

At least there's something nicer here to distract me from her (him? I don't really remember).

Super!  I'm gonna have to follow you now.  Lana was a bit of a crush for me, back when I was a kid.

I remember a couple episodes where she faced a mild degree of peril but never anything like this.  This is brilliant!  Thanks for sharing!

Captain N is super old-school. The show is probably god-awful now, but that Princess was an early crush of mine :).
RadicalDanny Featured By Owner Jan 12, 2018
It was bad when it was new...
They often even forgot to add a background! XD

And they never actually gave a Samus cameo beating Motherbrain's ass :(

Though I loved Princess Lana in 80's fashion vomit ^^

What a surprising blast from the past! Great work on this, Cabroon.

Incidentally, I remember watching this cartoon and enjoying the crap out of it. Pure nerd goodness. However, in my opinion, the cartoon jumped the shark at the beginning of season 2 with the introduction of Gameboy, which was a human-sized Gameboy that used its screen to express emotion. They could've utilized it as a handheld device that allowed short-ranged and temporary alterations to the immediate environment via cartridges found throughout Videoland, allowing periodic quests for said cartridges to be a continuing plot point for the season (with Mother Brain and her cronies also in possession of one, also hunting for said cartridges) but noooooooooooooooo. They went with a non-anthropomorphized Gameboy. What a lost opportunity.

Yes. They could have made a whole lot more with the concept. Mybe it was bureaucracy, maybe lack of creativity of the writers. Characters had the potential to develop with the plot, but they resorted back to being the same flawed characters. They introduced gameboy to the character roster, but it felt like a filler or a crowd pleaser, since gameboy was huge back in those days. I bet the next character to be introduced was meant to be samus, -just imagine how would the dinamic of two hot female characters would have developed the plot- but it was a shame that the show was cut short.
Majorpane Featured By Owner Jan 12, 2018
In retrospect, I'm glad that the show didn't last long enough to introduce Samus. Can you imagine how badly they'd butcher her? Probably even worse than Other M. I can see it now: Samus Aran, valley girl.

But if you're in the mood for more nostalgic yet partly obscure royalty to put in a precarious situation, perhaps Princess What's-Her-Name might strike your fancy. :)

Been trying to have those memories suppress-icus.  :(

Speaking of Memory Lane, Miranda Wright from “Bonkers” always seemed quite the catch. Can’t remember if she was ever a DID, though

Either way, please keep up the amazing work

Mega Girl combines two of my childhood crushes into one- Roll's cutie robot-ness and Penny Gadget's big poofy pigtails!

Lana came up a few times in a poker-chip sketch project I did back in October of 2016;  her two pics ended up being a couple of my favorites :D.…

Great work, as always! I LOVE that you do damsels other than the usual, and Lana was (without a doubt) the best part of a really dumb cartoon. But I got to ask: How do you decide who to do? Like, this cartoon went off the air 27 years ago, so what the heck sudden made you look at your blank canvas and say, "Hey, Lana from Captain N The Gamemaster! That'd be perfect!"?

Thats an interesting question. I grew watching and loving saturday morning cartoons. This is my very personal way of paying homage to all the cartoons I loved while I was a kid. Maybe it is nostalgia, but I think that cartoons from my childhood are way better than recent cartoons. And up to this day I keep watching modern cartoons. I wanted to become an animator for disney.

It all started with thinking and remembering Damsels that I wanted to draw. I kept forgetting which ones I wanted to draw. It was really irritating. To solve that issue, I started writing a list, which as time went by, accumulated about 300 damsels. I started making pencil sketches on maybe 4 notebooks which I filled completely, so I have a lot of material to choose from.
My purpose is to draw every damsel in that list. The list keeps growing.
As for how do I choose which one to draw next... I just play it by ear. Sometimes I am drawing something that goes like "meh, not good" and then comes another Idea that totally hijacks the original until it is finished. Honey lemon was hijacked at about 50%, I just couldnt get the right framing and lighting on the pic. I began and finished another pic and then came back to her with a fresh view. It came out great. Lana hijacked another character that was at about 70% progress. I´ll get back to her later, and maybe erase her totally, since I am not satisfied with how it is resulting. I´ll decide later.
Sometimes an idea comes up for a damsel scenario that fits certain character, sometimes I brainstorm how could I put a character into bondage. Other times I look at some reference pics and I think "gee!, X damsel would look great in this pose!" . I try not to force a character into bondage. I try to imply a backstory into my pics. It would be boring just to make "princess X in a hogtie, another princess Y in a strappado", etc...  I feell the pic gets a bigger impact when you understand the situation and realize it is possible that it could happen in an alternate reality. Best example that comes to mind is my Cinderella pic.
I´ve been thinking about publishing my infamous list, but I really like to surprise everyone with my choice for obscure characters, and by publishing the list, some of the surprise from my posts will vanish a bit. Besides If I publish a list, a lot of people will start pestering me with drawing this or that character next.
I guess that mostly sums it.  :D

Thanks; I really didn't expect such a long, well-thought-out answer! And I agree that the sense of "backstory" that you have in your pics adds to the enjoyment; often when I find a pic I like my subconscious supplies a possible backstory for the situation anyway. You just save me the trouble!

Never liked the portrayals on the cartoon much, but I have to say if stuff like this happened, I would have been glued to the screen!

Fantastic recreation've really outdone yourself this time!

Amazing work of a majorly underrated toon princess! Man this show would have been so much better if had just been lana & samus fighting mother brain's forces & kicking ass!

Wow. I occasionally think about the Captain N cartoon but never think about Lana for DiD art. Odd considering she was one of the earlier animated girls to get my blood pumping :)
