Reunion, Pt. 4Height gives you a psychological advantage, towering over someone as you give them a good stern talking to adds a whole new level to a dressing down. Unfortunately there are very few opportunities for me to physically dominate my opponent without some convenient terrain feature. Best I could do was look her in the face and show no fear. Approaching the stairs, I inspected the windows surrounding that opened on to the porch. There were powerful people lurking in that building, no matter what the public thought about their obsolescence. Avoiding an ambush would be ideal I suppose though if Sarah had betrayed me, I'm not sure Enough. Unproductive.
Reunion, Pt. 3That lasted all of two minutes. By the time we reached the clearing around the farm buildings, I was stopped again starring at the outline of the house. Sarah stopped beside me, and I dodged her grab for my arm. Frowning, she was about to chide me for my cowardice again no doubt but I attacked first. I smiled at her, for the most part not frightening at all, and pushed her forward "You, go see your family.... I, need, um, a few seconds to, you know, gather my thoughts? Because, I've been too excited to bef-" Not convincing, just shrug and push her forward again. She certainly wasn't convinced, from the look she gave me "I'm sure I'll get to meet everyone after, well, I see Jeanie, if you want me to." Wouldn't blame her if she wanted to keep her family safe from me, it was only slightly unlikely that I'd be civil.
Reunion, Pt. 2Once again, there we were, standing alone on a small town station's wooden platform as the train pulled out. Sarah and I were the only passengers going there it seemed, though a few locals had been on hand to load produce and pick up mail. It still felt strange to be wearing a dress again, even if she had been able to find one that was a lot like the ones Mother used to wear for everyday, it felt pretentious to be mimicking her appearance. I still had my pack though, no way to get rid of that despite her attempts to get me to leave it with the car and switch to a regular suitcase. I didn't want to go back west again to pick up my gear. From here, maybe I'd go down south or someplace else warm. If I left that is.
