Here is another scene from what I guess collectively is my "The Dark Hole" series (a take-off on Disney's "The Black Hole").
My computer nearly spit up a hairball rendering this a couple of years ago.  Thanks as always for having a look!

I once had occasion to have a bunch of big plastic panels vacuum-formed at a shop that specialized in it. Big machine, four stations. Watching it go you can bet I fantasized about bondage applications, unfortunately, those fantasies were sorta countered by the awful smell of the hot plastic and knowing just how hot ABS (the most commonly used vacuform material) has to get to do it. Oh well.  I still think one could do interesting things (like a tight-fitting fiberglass mummy case) if one were willing to sacrifice a vacbed once or twice. Maybe not quite assembly line... some day, with new materials or less expensive materials...

Neat.

I especially like the bondage you have them in, it makes a lot more sense than in the original movie where they just had Kate wrapped up in...foil(????). Seriously, tearing through tin foil is but a trifle for even the absolute weakest of humans.

I actually went and looked at the scene, since I couldn't quite remember what she's in.
While it does look like they just wrapped foil around the top of her head, the rest appears to be some sort of quilted Mylar sleeping bag sorta thing.
(google  the black hole hospital scene  and the first image should be of her, you can see the quilting.)
It certainly isn't tight enough to keep her from thrashing her way off the table though, although she does seem to be drugged.
I go back and forth myself on what they're encased in, sometimes it's clear packing wrap, sometimes more like a metallic foil or even thick latex.
Lately I've been liking the idea that they're computer printed (belts and all) directly around the victims as they pass down a conveyor belt.
Anyways, thanks for the comment!

it's actually a PVC type of material. i found a maker in the UK who does something similar. i wish they could make a replica of the thing from the BH. that said, there is a one-off shot in an old magazine that shows Kate wrapped in aluminum foil. looks like a dummy but very hard to tell from the image. but you can see it here:

there's also an article where some people attended a conference where a few of the crew talked about actually wrapping her in foil. not sure if they meant the above image in particular. however, i think they probably felt it looked ridiculous and was impractical, unless they put her into the PVC bag and put another layer of foil over that.

Upon further inspection of the footage, I see what you mean about the quilting. And the scene makes slightly more sense if they drugged her before putting her in it.

Then there's the biggest mystery, what is that beam doing exactly? Kate takes maybe as many as 10 or 12 seconds of it , and it doesn't sound like a happy thing, but it doesn't
leave a smoking hole in her forehead or anything...yet 4-5 seconds is enough to make one of the sentry droids' head blow up (real good). hmmmm, mysterious XD

there's three versions of that beam thing in the movie. the first, with a cyborg human where the laser/beam penetrates the translucent dome and for a second allowing the audience in seeing the human underneath. but the glass never breaks inexplicably. the second, of course, is Kate receiving the treatment. the third is the sentry whose facial mask explodes. unfortunately, the show does little to explain the details in these devices and outside of a few comics and the novel, there's few guesses as to the concrete implementation.

one comic called them "mind altering lasers" and the book seemed to suggest that they were surgical lasers used to open her frontal lobe so they could plant a mind controlling device similar to the ESP one. i think the movie just fudged it and figured that people would just guess and accept it rather than going hardcore sci-fi into terms of analyzing every little scene.

Yeah, that is rather odd considering those things are supposed to be armored.

Thanks!
( you have to love computer models, if they were real gals I'd have to keep letting them out to go to the bathroom. )

Packed, wrapped, and snugly encased. Really fantastic stuff; they've got a hood and everything! All they're missing is a gag!

I do like the pressurized cleare case, too.

the clear case is a great touch. i had a dream ages ago where i re-imagined the BH scene with Kate underneath some sort of plastic case with the translucent material fogged over by her heavy breathing.

it also reminds me of a scene from an old Battlestar Galactica episode of the Ovoids where the insectoid creatures would place victims inside a container to be fed to their young.

i mean outside of brainwashing, these pods could be used for artificial impregnation to continue this cycle.
