Anyone still read these? It's been a loooong while... and updates here may be slow... but Im kind of back. Not drawing, but will have some things to share with you all soon. Mahfouzah, my #1 love will be undergoing a bit of a transformation. While she will still have her equine/nordanner/andalusian form of herself, you will see a new version of her soon, and I am so excited to show you all. ♥

Sai tutorials/tips/tricks?

Mon Jul 14, 2014, 9:16 AM

My ps is a pain and refuses to register pen pressure. Thankfully Sai does, and so I have made the switch.

I know a few of you use this wonderful program and wanted to ask my watchers if they had any favorite sai tutorials/tips/tricks they recommend?

Hey-o... Western Pleasure?

Tue Jul 31, 2012, 7:23 PM

Been a long time since I have made an update here, but life's been really busy.

6 months ago I admitted to myself that I had stopped drawing because working as a graphics designer had drained me of my passion for it. I decided that my work needed to be something I loved and enjoyed more, and it came back to the horses for me.

I slowly started putting my ducks in line so to speak, and then three months ago acquired a job caring for three horses a couple days a week. I feed, groom, water, and then give them some light lunge work to keep them in shape a bit for their owner. Being me I would also write her an email each night detailing what I had worked on with each of them.

For example Lessa, her big chestnut tb, is really skittish about walking through doorways, the 'in betweens' so to speak again. So I would regularly work with calmly walking her through random doorways and stallways around the barn. This would be a small blip of her details, but it eventually made her openly admit that I was making her miss her horses immensely. Not really a bad thing except it has caused her to find a barn closer to her until her own barn is complete. So January 31st is my last day with my beloveds.

This is bittersweet and immensely empowering at once. Talking to my boss and a few folks in my town I decided to finally reach out to Shea Stables. Shea Stables is home of the infamous Afire Bey V and IXL Noble Express, English Rider Allen Zeller, and owners/managers Marty Shea and Tim Shea. It took a week of persistence, but I was able to meet Allen in person, a -huge- honor, although I am a western rider myself. I also have a meeting with the entire team Marty, Tim, and Allen in early February, to meet them, learn about their operation and policies, and hopefully, hopefully, get hired or taken on as a student. I am so immensely excited I can't even put it into words. :squee: It is my hope to learn from Tim and Marty their starting and condition techniques for halter, as well as their techniques for marketing and campaigning horses, and hopefully being introduced to others in the arabian community. Owning an Afire Grandson/Noble son is a further further down the road goal, but that is beside the point here...

Through the process of contacting them I was speaking with a friend of mine from -way- back, and she works at the family horse stable, C.L. Chartier's Cutting Horses northern family branch. She's long known of my career change plans and my plans to go with Western Pleasure. They've offered me a position teaching Western Pleasure lessons. :la:

So I am here to ask another equine community that I know and consider fairly well knowledge for any good reading/watching material so I may start re-preparing myself. I may lack a tad in knowledge and technique, but I make up for it with dedication and passion.

So please please please, poor on the recommendations for western pleasure horse and rider training. Be kind though, I'm not looking for any drama. ♥

Horse Personality Randomizer

Credits

This randomizer was made by Hathien603, BaliroAdmin, and BVicius.
The original idea was to create this for the Horse Art RP Game on Deviantart - but it is free to use by others as well and for other purposes.
We do kindly ask for credit though.
Please link back to these journal's where possible, so others may find it as well.

Recently my husband frog357 took some free time and surprised me by announcing he had turned this into an automatically randomized generator. Please visit this link to view the automatic randomizer: arienequine.com/design/index.p…
Please let me know if you find any bugs or experience any issues.

Do not copy the content of this randomizer and claim it your own!
Please respect the people who put time into creating it.
Thank you ^^

About the HPR
To use the HPR, first open another browser window and go to random.org.
In the top right corner you find a little box.
Change the two numbers in the box to fit the two numbers you see in the () in the benning of the sections below.
Like "Base Personalities (1-50) - then change box numbers to 1 and 50.
Then press generate.
Match the generated number to the number on this journal to find a personality for your horse.

You got other options besides just personalities, such as special querks.
Feel free to give your horse 2-3 querks, if you want.

I have my plans for my Nordanner's Entries, but even with the end date so far off, I'm sure I can't enter them all in all the events I would love to see them entered in. So some of my Nordanner's are being offered for public lease for the first time.

First let me say none, not even one, of my Nordanner's are to be shown in the reining class.
The queen of Skagenrak sent out a guardian of the amazing Desert Devils - seen here skagenrak.deviantart.com/favou… - to find them homes after this amazing event. Day Break Valley Ranch has been contacted, and we have graciously accepted this request. Because we have two devils coming home with us we would prefer that they not come into contact during Desert Devil Reining. It is our intent to use a sort of tag game with them once they are home with us. In the future you will see them used as the fox in hunts here at DBVR.
I love western riding but this is not the class for my herd this year round.

So first up I have DBVR's only two Nordanner Foals. If you really want to show a young Day Break Valley mutation nordanner, these two are great options.

First up is our Riff-raff, Azraff 1287 - LEASED

He is a Black dominant Peafowl Fawn, heterozygous Bloodsplash boasting a yummy bloodsplash blanket and a frisky attitude. He can be shown in the following classes -

Feerah is co-owned by DBVR with MorganFireStables out of the infamous Aryaliah 2 by our own Moushtaher 16. With her gorgeous chestnut base coat going grey this dusty rose lady is sure to be a show stopper. MorganFireStables has first and full rights to show her, I am placing her here as I would love to see her shown in this event but may not have time. She is offered for lease in the following events -

Now for our lovely studs. :la: & Second let me say, no Majeed is not available for lease. I intend to show him in the fox hunt, but having made trophy level I feel it is time to shed some love light on my other nordanners.

First in our handsome line of studs is our very first Nordanner Moushtaher 16

As for the prizes, you enter in that class you get the prize with the exception of the breeding spaces. If you win and their is a prize of breeding slots I would like to add it to the horse you leased. If it is the +1 space you will automatically be reserved that breeding. If it is the +2 spaces one will be for you, one will be for me.
Please leave a comment here or note me if you are interested in leasing one of these fabulous horses for any of these events.

Recently I have had a large influx of watchers. Along with this has come a large flood of favs too. I am often Fav and running friends images too, not having much time for comments.

I want to say thank you to all my watchers, favers and commenters. Your support and enjoyment of my art is greatly appreciated. Thank you

To my friends I love you all and am doing my best to be sure and leave comments after my recent fav'ing spree so expect to hear from me soon :meow:

In the wake of events around the Equine Stable RPG Community DBVR is closing all breedings to the public. Moving forward breeding's will be available only to DBVR affiliates and friends. My affiliates are listed in my main stable journal and on my journal page. Affiliates are not open at this time, do not ask. Friends know who you are if you have to ask, don't. You might not like your answer. ;) This is regardless of whether or not a horse is marked open for breeding. I will be slowing working through all my horses and marking them closed at this time.

Judging will be done with Random.org
I have decided to do this because I am requesting you don't spend a lot of time on these drawings... make them sketchy, don't worry about imperfections, focus more on having fun and enjoying drawing your horse. I have given a decent amount of time for entries, I don't expect anyone to rush, but I wont extend the deadline either. So again, no background, not fullbody, please include rider... we want to see your horse and rider interacting in a more personal and less formal show moment.

Because I also want to participate with my own harpg horses the lovely and fabulous Dollyrawr has volunteered to run the random.org generator for judging! Thank You oodles love and please go show her profile some love too!

 Mother's Song - a Traditional Lullaby (read by Jennifer Garner)
Journal Divider Addition by BVicius:iconnbsp::iconnbsp::iconnbsp::iconnbsp: Journal Divider Addition by BVicius

My heart is like a fountain true That flows and flows with love to you.
As chirps the lark unto the tree ...So chirps my pretty babe to me.

There's not a rose where'er I seek, As comely as my baby's cheek.
There's not a comb of honey-bee, So full of sweets as babe to me.

There's not a star that shines on high, Is brighter than my baby's eye.
There's not a boat upon the sea, Can dance as baby does to me.

No silk was ever spun so fine As is the hair of baby mine.
My baby smells more sweet to me Than smells in spring the elder tree.

A little fish swims in the well, So in my heart does baby dwell.
A little flower blows on the tree, My baby is the flower to me.

The Queen has sceptre, crown and ball, You are my sceptre, crown and all.
For all her robes of royal silk, More fair your skin, as white as milk.

Ten thousand parks where deer do run, Ten thousand roses in the sun,
Ten thousand pearls beneath the sea, My babe more precious is to me.

:iconnbsp::iconnbsp: DBVR RDS Noaptea-Finest by BVicius:iconnbsp:Broodmare Status: Breedings CLOSED by BVicius

'Noaptea' means 'Night' in Romanian

Breed: Pure Polish Arabian
Registered: Yes
Gender: Mare
Age: 9 years
Height: 15.2 HH
Color: Black
Genotype: aa EE
Discipline: Halter, Endurance, English Pleasure

Personality: Noaptea is a cheerful and optimistic mare, always the first mare to greet us in the morning and the last to nicker goodnight to us. She can be a bit foolhardy, getting herself ensnared in a thicket or ditch on occasion during a few pleasure rides. Noa is a pleasure of a horse to be around, a prime example of the charisma found in the arabian breed.
A neat and tidy mare, you will not find her stall heavily fussed or soiled, nor is she a messy eater. Even when caring for a foal, her stall is always found uncannily clean. As a dam she is a very doting mother, bordering a sporty mom. This mare has been seen leading herds of foals in games of tag and soccer with a dog ball or two snagged through the fence line.

Gender: Mare
Age: 5 years
Height: 15.2 HH
Color: Wild Bay with Lacing
Genotype: Aa Ee
Discipline: Halter, Endurance, Jumping

Personality: Cruzan, or Cruz as she is fittingly dubbed is extremely intelligent. She is a master of locks and we have three on her stall. After several evening and morning chases we have thankfully found these three that she will play with but seems to have given up on. Though it is a ranch rule that all arena gates and barn doors be shut and locked at night in the case she does manage it eventually.

She loves being bathed, and seemingly works at getting dirty. She goes crazy when turned out in pasture, no matter how long it\'s been and this led us to decide to show her in endurance. She\'s terrified of chickens, though lucky for her Mama is as well, so we only run into them at neighboring farms while training her for endurance or at events.

Shes a follower out in the pasture, rarely involved in a squabble unless it involves her offspring. Then she is all business as is any mare. Bring her favorite treat, a licorice swizzle, when you come to catch her though, otherwise it will just never happen. Don\'t fool yourself and go get the dang licorice.

Day Break Valley Dobermans

Fri Oct 2, 2009, 12:19 PM

Welcome to

Day Break Valley
Doberman Icon 2 by Schneeauge Dobermans Doberman Icon by Schneeauge

Here at DBVD we are not a kennel, we are a family owned and operated facility. Our dogs are raised in our home with our children, spend the days roaming the pastures with the horses and lounging at our sides. Our mission is to provide our dobermans the best home we possibly can to meet their needs. Our dobermans must pass temperament evaluations, health screenings, and must have obtained minimum three  working and/or conformation titles before they are given license to breed.

DBV Dobermans are family pets first and foremost. They compete in events such as Search & Rescue, Schutzhund, Personal Protection, Obedience, Agility, Scent Detection, Herding, Flyball, Dock Jumping, and Waterfowl Hunting!

We are not puppy brokers, you will rarely see puppies available from us.

Pups from other sources will be handled as rescues or re-homing.
This we do actively help with -- Dobermans in need of new homes.
If you are a rescue organization or have a doberman you no longer wish to keep and maintain, please email us your contact
information. We will either offer a home here at DBVD or help find a home for the dog.

Our Stalls offer open fronts, with a mesh center door and new finger latch systems to help prevent escape artists. We also use stall partition dividers, to allow open airy socialization between stalls, or a more private stall for new, or shy horses. Each stall is equipped with automatic watering systems, a rotating feed door, as well as blanket, saddle, and bridle hangers. Cross ties are also found down the isle ways through out the facilities to allow quick and safe access to your equine companion. Stall mats, washrack mats, and barn isle way mats have been created with a recycled natural rubbers, in an attempt to continually support greener solutions. We recently splurged with the new facilities and are installing an infrared equine solarium as well as a therapeutic swimming pool.

We have a covered show arena, 3 outdoor arena's, two round pens, a cross country course, and a driving course. Our property also offers approximately 40 acres of trails for guests to enjoy. Our guest services offer continental breakfast, as well as complementary house cleaning and laundry services.

Owner's and Operator's:
Mama T - Me. I am the owner and operator of this facility. I compete in Eventing, Dressage, Show Jumping and Driving. I am also the owner of a website hosting company.
Program Man - Mamas husband, he works at home as a customer support and systems manager. This allows him more family time then most now a days. He does not stick his nose in on farm business much unless it is to lend a hand leading a horse or two, or working with Jullian on general fix up problems.
Catriona - Catriona is a toddler, and shows more interest in spoiling the horses with sugar cubes then much of anything else. She can usually be found toddling about after her mother or her aunt elaine.

:bulletblue: Foals genotype is decided on this generator.
:bulletblue: After I have accepted your request for a breeding, you have 2 weeks to complete the breeding picture.
:bulletblue: The breeding picture must be in color and must show at least headshots of both horses.
:bulletblue: Once you have completed the breeding photo, please upload it and notify me by note.

:bulletblue: I will design the foal gender, color, and genotype. I will also provide a projected height as an adult.

:bulletblue: Please be sure to double check all information about the stallion or mare you are requesting a breeding with. All horses have limited breedings available, and that horses breedings may be full. Stable affiliates will get preference over non stable affiliates for breeding slots.
:bulletblue: Some horses may cost points to breed with. Please do not request breedings if you do not have the points.

:iconleafline1plz::iconleafline2plz::iconleafline3plz::iconleafline1plz::iconleafline2plz::iconleafline3plz::iconleafline1plz::iconleafline2plz::iconleafline3plz:

Day Break Valley Ranch or DBVR is a small community of dedicated riders and horse enthusiasts. We strive to improve the cooperation and communication between our horses and riders so they may perform as the best team they can possibly be. Most of DBVR's horse are schooled in dressage at one point of their career or another. DBVR's quality can be seen in our horses bloodlines, their confidence and skills built from training and teaching based on a solid foundation of trust and encouragement.

We currently host a variety of breeds in our stable, focusing on Arabians and Mustangs, striving to create a solid, strong, versatile and sure footed equine. DBVR staff works diligently to assess and train our horses in events suitable for their personalities and conformation to insure that they are prepared when they step into the show ring. We strive to exhibit the true harmony and freedom that can exist between horse and rider when they aspire to be the best. Ensuring quality in our bloodlines, our focus is to create excellent examples of Sport Horses, showing both sound conformation, surprising athletic ability, and dispositions worth there weight in gold.

All our horses go through basic ground training before being sent to Equine Training Academy for finishing. They then return home to be shown or leased. Ground training our horses for Dressage, you will see our horses compete in everything from endurance and show jumping to barrel racing and reining. Our facilities offer an on call vet and farrier, a therapeutic massage specialist for your horses, as well as riding instructors specializing in just about every event. This specialized team does not stop there, we are always looking for seminars, classes and courses to take to further our equine knowledge so that we may offer our horses and our guests top quality service and consideration.

Day Break Valley Ranch recently founded Equine Training Academy hoping to bring focus back to where it matters with the horses, positive, solid training. We are also very pleased to announce that thanks to ETA and several European based colleagues we have developed a few training course exclusive to Day Break Valley. This training program is intended to build upon the foundation training horses and riders recieve at ETA's training program and will be available to the public in the very near future.

Give credit where credit is due.
Don’t take credit when it’s not about you.
Remember the dressage (HARPG) world is very small,
Fame comes to those who stand very tall.
Honor those who give you their time,
Boosting you so your star can shine.
When and if you climb to glory,
It’s now time to write a new story
About sharing , giving, helping, support,
It’s now your time to give back to your sport.
