Started off on my way some time ago
Decided to live my dream so I hit the road
Left only with a guitar slung over my shoulder
Nothing to show but a few years older
No money, no home, and no place to go
The height of my desire just kept me low
I came to a town about as empty as me
The end of the road; I knew I couldn't leave.
I stumbled in a bar on that hot summer day
Feeling down and out; gonna drink it away
Then I noticed the waitress with a pretty face
Something soft and sweet in a God forsaken place
She said to me, "You must be new around."
"Just moving through," I lied. "I'm westward bound."
"Well, you traveling man, would you stay the night?"
"I don't wanna hold you up but it just feels so right"
It seemed she noticed I had no place to go
Or maybe that town just had no one else to know
Either way, I felt she was sent from above
An angel of mercy on a mission of love

Played softly while we talked for hours on end
Then I saw she had tears i
