cereal:geek 01 - COVER

cereal:geek 01 - COVER

This is the cover to the first issue of cereal:geek illustrated by NATHAN BAERTSCH and based on a rough layout by ME. I wanted the image to show a realistic She-Ra after a victoriously long fight with the a large army of Horde Troopers. The purpose of this image was to show the reader that this new magazine would not treat their cartoon characters too predictably, and since the first issue talks about violence in cartoons of the eighties, it was a highly appropriate cover!

This is amazing! She-Ra has always been one of my favourite heroines, and this piece is so well done that I could just burst out of happiness, looking at it.

I really love that, not only has she obviously been bludgeoned a bit, but she looks happy. Or, maybe excited, is the right word? I'm not sure. Either way, the light in her good eye and the shape of her lips looks... well, like that triumphant light, instead of the down and beaten victory. I love it!

I am 3 years late in finding out about Cereal Geek. But I am very glad I found out about Cereal Geek while trolling the Internet for He-Man and She-Ra information. I grew up in the 80s, and that era had many cartoon characters dear to my heart. Your cover of She-Ra having a black eye is shocking as I never expected to see her that way and it reflects the theme of your first issue: Violence in cartoons of the 80s. I also did a fan art of She-Ra myself. [link]

Whoa.. I love it.. I missed She-Ra too.. and the bruises just makes it great - making it 'real' and showing that she has been in one heck of a fight.. win or loss :P

I love this image, but it reminds of when I was 7 with a bad fever and I had a nightmare where She-ra tried to kill me and He-man protected me and she cut his arms about violent cartoons of the 80s!

Ya know, this was the image that got me turned onto this magazine. It's a BEAUTIFUL cover, and if you cover up half of it, it's perfectly split. Half she's beat all to hell and the other half she's a Barbie princess. I really love it. It gets a SUPAH FAV! from me. :D
