Collecting alms....or recruiting for the Mortal Kombat tournament?

Wow! I have seen and photographed the exactly same monk during my trip in Tokyo, he is even holding the same bowl!! Man the world sure is small! :D (Big Grin)

It sure is! The monks go out to gather alms a lot, so they have a regular street presence. Still lucky you photographed him as well. Where did you chance upon him? My photo was shot in Ikebukuro. :D

Surprisingly he was the only one I had seen on my trip.
Anyhow it is really a funny coincidence to have found him in another picture :D
I encountered him in Ueno ( and seemingly just 2 months after your photo)

Wow, that is crazy! There are a few other 'public figures' in Tokyo as well that crop up in people's photos, such as Hattori-san (the home less guy), the weird grimace guy, the old man dressed as a school girl, the one monk who really hates having his picture taken, and so on. I was thinking I should put together a 'bestiary' of sorts cataloging all these people. :D

That's hilarious, I checked up this Hattori-san, he's popular :D (Big Grin) Now I am definitely going to be more aware when I wander around in Tokyo next time!
That's a nice idea you got. Gotta catch 'em all! :D (Big Grin)

If I give him money, to I get magic stuff then?
burningmonk's avatar
Yes. You can buy a blessing which gives you +5 luck for 24 hours. :D

This isn't some random guy dressed up? o.O

Because that is one really cool looking garment..

He's a real monk.

That is SO cool!
I immediatley thought of those Pandarens from Warcraft
but I never realised their Monk class designs were
actually based on these Shinto Monks :O

Guess you learn something new everyday :D
