Carefree Childhood

Got a somewhat dirty Strawberry Shortcake doll last sunday: it seems her former owner loved her to bits until it was discarded like an old toy.

Maybe the little girl grew up and didn't care about Strawberry Shortcake anymore, but can't help but wonder how much love got that worn ragdoll from the cute little girl while she was her favorite.

Many girls enjoyed a carefree childhood, in which ragdolls, lace socks and jelly shoes were part of their everyday life. At some point they had to grow up, but hope they never forget all the great moments they lived while being just little girls. Being careless, happy and fully free to explore the world and enjoy themselves.

This is my rendition for all little girls, at age and spirit.

Compré una muñeca de Rosita Fresita algo sucia el domingo pasado: al parecer su dueña anterior la amó con toda su alma hasta que la descartó como a un viejo juguete.

Quizá la niñita creció y ya no le gustó más Rosita Fresita, pero no puedo evitar imaginar cuánto amor recibió la pobre y gastada muñequita de trapo de parte de esta linda niña, mientras fue su juguete favorito.

Muchas niñas disfrutaron de una infancia sin preocupación alguna, en la que las muñecas de trapo, las tobilleras de encaje y las sandalias de plástico eran parte de su vida diaria. En algún momento tuvieron que crecer, pero espero que no hayan olvidado esos grandiosos momentos que vivieron mientras aún eran pequeñas niñitas. Siendo despreocupadas, felices y totalmente libres para explorar el mundo que las rodeaba y disfrutar siendo ellas mismas.

Este es mi tributo para todas las niñas, en edad y en espíritu.
