My Christmas wish

So I submitted OsmiumPlanet for the pet spotlight on Neopets. X3 I really hope he wins!

You know, life is hard when you're an adopted Neopet.

My name is OsmiumPlanet, and I am adopted. I've been adopted several times, actually. I've spent a fair share of my life at the Neopian pound, been with plenty of different owners, and then sent back to that awful place.

A lot of bad things are said about the pound, and each of them is true. The food is inadequate, the water is filtered from the sewers, the cages are filthy and are cleaned once a month, and the feeling of anguish, sadness, and heartbreak is always lingering.

But that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Since I used to be a regular at the pound, the workers treated me differently from all the other pets. I was given slightly better food, but not by much(there was less mold). My water came from bottles, though it wasn't Faerie Spring water. And a few of the daily visitor owners looking for a new addition to their family would talk to me.

Honestly, I didn't like the special treatment. It made me feel bad for all the other abandoned pets that had been there for a long time. It made me feel more special than all the other pets, when I wasn't. We're all the same- we were abandoned, left alone by the owner we loved, left to wait in a dark, dinky cage until a nice, new owner would come along and find the good in us that our last owners didn't.

I've had to wait weeks on end to be adopted just to be abandoned again a few days later. And there were times when I was taken in by someone, and they weren't nice. I've been traded for neopoints once, I felt like an item, not an individual with feelings.

I finally found my owner after fifteen visits to the pound. She saw how heartbroken I was and adopted me, and I will forever be thankful to her for that- for her love. Once she got all my papers, she gave me a warm home with three siblings, a room to myself, clothes, and anything I wanted. She even went out of her way to buy me a paint brush! A Christmas one at that!

It's wonderful knowing that I've got such a big family that loves me and wouldn't trade me, or abandon me, for the world. And I wouldn't trade them for anything, either. They love me more than I can know and they do it willingly and without my request.

But, I still have one problem- there are a lot of pets at the pound that need nice, loving homes like the one I have.

If I could only have one wish granted this year, could it please be that all the pets at the pound found families before Christmas? Each and every one of them is sad and would be more than happy to give you their love. Love and give love.

And, yes, I know OsmiumPlanet was never abandoned at the pound- but it's just something I've come up with for him. It also makes for some good background story for him. :3
