Severus buried his head beneath his arms and pressed his face into the sheets. He was tired... so tired... of doing everyone's will but his own, of serving the Dark, as well as the Light.

Love had been the catalyst of his downfall, hate had brought him back from the precipice of madness; love for Lily Evans, and hatred for the Dark Lord.

He wondered, when the Final Battle was over, and the victor, whomever it would be, stood triumphant, where would he be? *Who* would he be?

As tears of anger and regret rolled down his cheeks, Severus realized that he had not known who he really was for a very long time... and that, finally... he no longer cared...



The song is 'Dear Agony' by Breaking Benjamin. It has made me think of Severus from the first time I heard it. Interpret it as you will!
