Global cooling: the early years.

The early Earth was molten. In this state most of the heaviest elements sank to form the core. Eventually the crust cooled and solidified, as did the mantle beneath it. Sorta.

The core is still molten. Planets this size retain their heat for a long time. The smaller Mars has fully cooled already, as has our moon. Further heat is generated by radioactive decay of certain minerals.

So yeah. I'm back!

There's a giant thumbs-up forming in the crust. I suspect this has little to do with the impending idea of what's to come, and more to do with "I made it this far"?

The Magratheans are etching the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy logo into it. Joke's on them, Theia is about to splash into it, erasing the image and forming the moon.
