It has been mentioned before that we are looking for higher quality submissions.  I don't like to turn anyone down, but the time has come to raise the standards here at BugZoo.  Some of the images we are looking for:
:) Macros / Close-ups with lots of detail
:) Creativity in art or photography
:) Images that pop with the use of light and shadow
:) Show us something unique or different
:) Photos taken from interesting angles or viewpoints

Do not submit:
:( Photos out of focus
:( Snapshots where the insect is too far away
:( Art that shows little effort
:( Mediocre shots with no visual interest
:( Positioning of the subject (sometimes the Rule of Thirds helps)

The insect should dominate the photo.  Submit your best stuff and look at what we showcase here to see what we're looking for.
Every month, a different folder is selected to allow unlimited submissions with auto approval.  The winning submission for November: The Beetles is "Big Eyes!" by Mallophora.  Congrats go out to Mallophora: 300 points will be coming your way along with a permanent spot in our favorites gallery.  Thanks to all who entered submissions.

We're taking a break from our folders contest for the month of December.  Look for a new contest at the beginning of next year.

For November, we have opened up The Beetles folder for unlimited submissions and auto approval.  Add as many Beetles as you want for the entire month of November!

At the end of November a new folder will be selected for unlimited submissions and auto approval. Please attempt to keep the quality high, because at the end of the month, the folder will be "cleaned up" and only the best deviations will remain.  On the other side of the coin: the best submission of the month for that folder will receive 300 points and a permenant spot in the Favorites Gallery.
