Personal History: Shiraz was one of the first successful horses that Red Star Stables had bred. His sire was a proven racer in his time, as he placed in his first run. His dam however wasn't too bad of a racer either. She was a fantastic two year old in her time, only to truly shine as an older horse by winning the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup back to back before retiring later that season. Shiraz is definitely proving to show us that he is the star of the stables day by day.

Base Personality: Shiraz is a fairly calm stallion, you wouldn't even think he was one when walking into his paddock and rubbing him all over. He doesn't have any attitude, unless it's on the track where he tends to become somewhat competitive. He can become protective of 'his' things (Ben, for example), but he is a complete dork and a total sweetheart. Do not put him into the same paddock as RSS Turn Me Loose. They have been known to fight and we would not like things to take a turn for the worse.
Quirks:
- Tends to curl his lip when is eating and if he tries something new, or just when he's being the dork that he is
- Don't rub his shoulders/neck too much, unless you want a horse in your lap. He loves it. It's wise to move off to the side when doing so, though in the paddock he's sometimes found headfirst onto the ground after trees have given him 'the scratch of his life'.
- Holds his tongue with his teeth occasionally out of a random habit, never does it when ridden
- Will follow after lawnmowers and eat the clippings
Trivia:
- This guy is actually the twin brother to our other stud, RSS Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah. Despite the fact that these boys look different, Shiraz somehow evaded both the sooty and splash genes from their sire and dam.
- Shiraz was actually intended to be just a design for sale, as seen here. Turns out I adored him in the end and after a few days, I kept him for myself. And well, here he is now!
- Escaped his paddock in late 2016, causing an unexpected pregnancy for BP Real Surreal.
