the prayer

"She turned her face up to the sky and closed her eyes. She could feel the snow on her lashes,
taste it on her lips. It was the taste of Winterfell. The taste of innocence. The taste of dreams.
When Sansa opened her eyes again, she was on her knees. She did not remember falling.
It seemed to her that the sky was a lighter shade of grey. Dawn, she thought. Another day.
Another new day. It was the old days she hungered for. Prayed for. But who could she pray to?
The garden had been meant for a godswood once, she knew, but the soil was too thin and stony
for a weirwood to take root. A godswood without gods, as empty as me.
She scooped up a handful of snow and squeezed it between her fingers."

"A Storm of Swords", George R. R. Martin

Just so you know, this happened in facebook
Dear Magdalena Korzeniewska,  I’m self publishing my first indie-novel about a 14 year old girl who touches a tree that gives her a gift, that enables her to see its memories.  Is there any chance I could use your painting; “The Prayer”?  It is exquisite and would be just right for the front cover.  It resonates with me and encapsulates the essence of the protagonist.   I will acknowledge you of course.  If so, is there a certain procedure I need to follow so I can copy your art just to put it on the front cover?  Kind regards, Emily
beautiful and awesome work!!

Dear Magdalena, I hope you don't mind but your inspired art inspired me to work with it. I very much admire your skill!

I'm new here on deviantArt and an old fogey to boot so I can't seem to figure out how to post it here for you. Guess I'll add a link to it instead.

I do hope you like it and are not upset by my alteration.

This is so beautiful...love the innocence in her face and the sense of movement throughout. You've captured this scene beautifully (particularly as it's one of my favourites in the series :D) Awesome work!
