So in the wake of the circus that was the Cohen hearing, Big Brown Buffalo Cenk Uygur and friends decided to make a big story out of one the most cringeworthy moments of the whole ordeal: Rashida Tlaib, the whitest non-white person I've seen since Bahar Mustafa, accusing one of the Republicans of racism, for having a character witness who happens to be a black woman, then calling said witness a "prop".
I thought I've seen racist comments on the internet before, but an eye opening read through the comment sections made me realize that all that was nothing more than internet edgebois trying to offend people. There were no signs of insane or creative racial slurs, on the side of the so called anti-racist side, no edgy offensive comments or profanities, just seething, toxic hatred. That moment when the mask falls off and those righteous democrats, the big abolitionists, the protectors of the disenfranchised minorities, forget about themselves for a brief moment at the sight on an acceptable target they can unload everything on and reveal how ugly they really are, was one of the most sickening things i have ever seen. I can stomach a lot more than the average person, but this was too much even for me. I think I've seen REAL racism for the first time, and it's far more horrifying than anything the internet could've prepared me for.
I'll just cry myself to sleep now.
