Pastel self portrait on Fisher400 board 34x42cm
Many thanks to Jackie *jacksl for the suggesting doing a self portrait, also to everyone who voted in my poll. I was completely outnumbered. The only 'no' vote was me, but soo glad now I have done the piece.

A very well done self portrait my friend. Great range of values and a lovely sharpness to give added intensity to your eyes, which really draws the viewer in.
I love the use of the high lighting in the salt and pepper beard and hair. But I would say just one thing that you have used the same technique of feathering the white highlighter from the hair and beard, across your face. This was a little disconcerting for me and when I downloaded it for full size viewing, the white on your cheeks appeared very similar to the hair on your beard. Slightly hairy. In my mind, just a very slight ammount of smudging / blending for the white would have finished it off.
But all in all an eye catching and honest self portrait, which shows off your incredible talent.
Instant fave.
Jason
