DISCLAIMER: i do not know how finances in movies work. Nor do i know how they announce release dates.
After hearing this debate I decided to throw in my three cents in.
Already moved its date due to, let's face it, many rewrites and trying to get their stuff together. Now it's May 6, 2016.
After success of Captain America: Winter Soldier, Kevin Fiegue decides to announce the release date of Captain America 3 as in May 6, 2016. Kevin then stated that they will not move the date because they were there "first''. Even though they announced it after BVS moved the date.
Okay, let's get this straight.
This is some kindergarten shit. And that is coming from an over obsessive comic book fan that refuses to get a driver's license.
The reason why Cap 3 needs to move a week earlier is one good reason. First of all, nothing good ever comes out of April. Second, Cap 2 dominated the box office on April. and Third, IT'S BATMAN VS FUCKING SUPERMAN! Do you honestly think that Captain America vs a villain, who anyone who isn't a Marvel Fanboy that doesn't know about, can trump Batman Vs Superman? And Fourth, cause it's a smart move. If you get money before BVS comes out, then you could get more if the tickets are sold out. It's like this. Let's say Johnny saw Cap 3 and loved it. He wanted to see the BVS movie but it's sold out. But he sees that Cap 3 is not sold out and then he buys a ticket to see the same movie again. He also realizes that he could just wait tomorrow or even the day after that if he needs to.
See? Even if you lose in, what i think is, the most immature battle in the world, you still get the damn money. Hell, you may not outmatch their weekend, but you win yours.
Plus you cannibalize your audience if you stick with the May 6th date. Does this means you could give a shit about your public audience? Do you only care about who's the best? Hell, even the cast of Cap 3 is talking smack about BVS, you don't hear the other casts making fun of them.
That should tell you something.
But hey, i am just a person on the outside looking in.
