A pair of red-pink eyes stared up at the night sky, the moon was full and red as fresh blood on snow. There was something in the air that made the fur on her neck and back stand on end. “This night is cursed,” The mare whispered to herself before blowing out a breath she didn’t know she was holding and tried to shake away the tension in her shoulders. Her silver mane fell in waves over her neck and shoulders as she tossed her head, turning her back to the moon and moving out of her hiding place. Staying still felt like a bad thing, she needed to move, to get away from whatever was lurking in the red shaded darkness surrounding her. The night was still, almost too still. There was no crickets, no night time bird song. This was the kind of quiet your mother warned you about when predators were about. The mare moved through the brush, the grass and bushes occasionally snagging on the feathered hair on her legs. She was cautious, her heart thudding in her chest as her ears swiveled about
