Back in my first year of college, due to scholarship limitations, I abandoned my dream of being an artist. Time passed, and I eventually earned an MA in English (creative writing) and began teaching as an adjunct (translation: part-time) instructor.
One summer, I only was given one class to teach, and it was not enough to do anything more than pay my house payments for the summer, and because of a number of medical issues and schedule complications, I could not get another part-time job to make ends meet.
So I returned to my first love: art. In time, partly due to the transitory, uncertain nature of my teaching position, I decided to pick up with my art degree where I'd left off. As of the summer of 2012, I'm enrolled as a part-time student (I'm working toward a BFA in graphic design and painting) while teaching and doing freelance artwork to help pay my way (since I no longer qualify for financial aid due to already having a degree). I'm excited to see what the future holds, and I love having the chance to paint portraits and landscapes for my clients in the meantime.
And I can't wait to work on a project for you!
