Reminds me of the "Precisionist" art work ... among them was Charles Demuth of Lancaster, who attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art (PAFA).

Thank you! Demuth is most definitely an influence, especially en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precisio…

Demuth was a truly great artist. His home in Lancaster is now a museum open to the public free of charge. I especially admire his "I Saw The Number 5 In Gold" painting, inspired by a poem by William Carlos Williams. Sadly Demuth died in middle age due to diabetes, which was not easy to manage in those days.

When I was in high school, one of my favorite books had a print of "5 in Gold" on the cover. www.amazon.com/The-Incredible-…

When I rediscovered Demuth years later finding that painting was one of his really got my attention.

An interesting bit of trivia about Demuth: he used to like to hang out at gay bathhouses!

Wasn't he openly gay in a time and place where it took real courage to be?

I'm not so sure how "open" he was about it, but he didn't try to hide it either. He was well known in artists and literary circles: he was friends with Marsden Hartley, Georgia O'Keefe, Alfred Stieglitz, William Carlos Williams, and other important people.

Of course, I was using the term "open" in a sense that doesn't quite the same thing today...
