This piece is part of a set of drawings I did for Heirs to Olympia by Countess Games. In east-central Odella lies the town of Lorlena, which would have remained an unremarkable tribal center had it not grown to be the center of the inter-cultural slave trade. Now the town is wholly dedicated to supporting this unsavory practice. (A bit like Blackpool?) Here, two Gormir women are captured and awaiting sale.

Later the women will be standing on the auction block.  Often when the bidding slackens, the auctioneer will try to generate renewed interest.  He lifts the hem of the dresses, but only a few inches.  He shows the crowd that their knees are dirty, which proves the girls are capable of kneeling for a long time.

Love this comment. I imagine by a few days after sale their knees will be rubbed raw with all of the kneeling action they're doing.

Aah, merchandise! Thanks for keeping the tradition alive. Whether they like it or not, women can be a commodity to be bought and sold by anyone who can capture and bind them.

Hi Mark,

The picture is amazing! In fact all of your work is stunning. I have a fantasy novel that is due to be released this spring. In it is a scene where a young woman is collected by a band of slavers. I would love to be able to include this picture inside the book. Please understand that I cannot pay you for this. But, I can credit you in the book and I can link to your gallery from my website [link] Thanks for considering it, Joe joeswope at knowyourneed.com
