This is amazing. It must be one of the best Doctor Who artworks I've ever seen. The expressions, the realism, the colours, the feeling you get when you look at it - it can't be described in words. I wish I could express propersly how awesome this is, but all I can do is give it a humble try...

For once, I see art of the ten Doctors where they actually ARE the ten Doctors - resemblance and all. The colour works for me in a way that I can see what is in the past, what is in the present and what is a dream, or an alternative reality. The vivid colours of Rose's face come in complete opposition to both the sepia tones of the rest of the artwork, as well as the expression of true pain in Ten's face.

Truly amazing. I hope I find that book somewhere.

This is among my favourite deviations of all time, and now that I've acquired a premium membership, I have the privilege to tell you why in critique form.

COLOR: Your colors blend well rather than clashing, an important quality all art should have. By using browns almost everywhere else in the picture, you immediately drew my eye to Rose and the panicked expression on her face. You then guide my eyes through the rest of the picture using...

LINES: The curved lines in the background lead from Rose to the melting faces of past Doctors, 1 through 9. You also use less defined lines to lead from Rose and 1 through 9 to the 10th Doctor, the focus of the picture.

TEXTURE: Overall, this piece gives me the impression of liquid - the paint, the melting, the fluid strokes and splattered look of it. Also, 10 appears to be the most "solid" or "concrete" part of the picture, although he is melting, conveying (in my opinion, at least) that he's the only one left standing, although it won't last forever and eventually his fate will match those of his past regenerations.

LIGHT: This piece is more light than dark, but rather than giving it the general "happy" feeling associated with light, it gives the picture more of a...I'm searching for an adjective here, but can't find one. Let me rephrase that and say it gives me the impression of insanity, desperation, and powerful emotion.

Overall, I'd say your vision, originality, and impact deserve solid five stars. However, I believe that technique can always be improved upon. In my opinion, the picture could do without the rainbow on 10's back; it draws the eye away from your other splash of color (Rose's face), however it does contribute to the way 10 seems to be "melting."

Thank you for sharing your talent!

The first time you see this picture is makes a huge impact and statement. The colours within the art work again is strike. Very well done I love the nature of this art work, and who it captures the history of the doctor. People sometimes forget the history of the show, and this wonderful peace of work brings it back to them.

The nature of the doctor makes the impossible just improbable. You could write a book from this very picture itself.

I have sent this via stumble upon to a friend of mine, who's son works with the doctor who team. They said like me what a stunnign peace of work this was

Thanks for saying so, and thanks, too, for taking the trouble to pass it on!
Nice photography on your page, BTW.

I must say as a "hardcore Whovian" and being a fan of the classics, this deviation is one of the best I have seen produced. The fangirl in me loves the depiction of all of the Doctor's former selves along with the shocked face of Rose.

The Deviant in me immediately fell in love with the concept, use of colors, and impact it presents. The concept is well thought out and encourages the viewer to think past the picture presented. Immediately, I want to know how the Doctor has trapped himself and who is the villain behind such an obviously painful trap. The bright rainbow colors clash wonderfully with the Tenth Doctor's muted brown suit. The "unfinished" corners and right side create a marvelous depth to the deviation. For the impact, all I have to say is "Wow." Very well done, indeed.

Thanks! Glad you liked it:)
It was a bit of a strange one, as it was done overnight in a fit of temper - the editor had said that the original page looked "too photographic" and pretty much implied that I'd just retouched a photograph. I hadn't - I'd spent the best part of 3 days on the picture, but I could tell he didn't really believe me. I was so mad I scrapped the original and started from scratch on a completely different composition - I think the Doctor's expression summed up the way I was feeling:)

fantastic picture! my favourite picture to EVER appear in the Doctor Who Storybooks. You should be so proud of your talent as this encapsulates Doctor Who amazingly. The torment the Doctor faces and his conflicts of other personalities and loves. The look of fear in Rose's expression makes you want to jump in the picture and help her immediately. The look of total despair on the Doctor's face is timeless. And the inclusion of all the past Doctor's is fantastic! I would buy this as a print in a heartbeat! I hope you create more Doctor Who art! Amazing!!! Superb! If there was 100 stars rates I would choose them!

Thanks, glad you liked it:)
If the picture manages to convey some emotion it's probably because it was done overnight, in a blind panic: my editor hadn't liked the original picture (which I'd spent a couple of days on) because it looked "too photograhic", so I decided to start afresh with a completely new composition, and just managed to scrape in under the deadline!
