I release her.
She steps out walks in front of me, we stare.
She lowers her head so our eyes meet.
I pat her head and scratch behind this beautiful She wolf’s ears.
I’ll call her Sheila.
But our bonding time is cut short by a loud-
RROOAAARR!!! is heard.
That’s the sound that reminds me of the other one.
The one that I wished wasn’t still alive.
Sheila knew an enemy was approaching.
I deny it and say “It’s just the wind carrying the sound. You weren’t the only one in a cage you know.”
There it is again but… closer?
Sheila guards me ready for an inevitable battle.
“She still had her chains on I’d never gotten the chance to take them off-” I say.
Sheila gives me a disappointed look.
“I meant to I was just still afraid to go there.” I justify.
She looks away while shaking her head.
“Uh… Sheila why don’t we just run away?” I ask.
