This isn't an orbweaver, although I can see how you might draw that conclusion from the body shape.

This is a fishing spider (family Pisauridae, genus Dolomedes). I primarily know about American spiders, not Australian spiders, but I think this is Dolomedes instabilis.

These spiders do not build webs to catch prey. Instead, they fish by dangling a leg in the water to attract prey (such as aquatic insects, small fish, or tadpoles) and attacking when the prey comes within range.

Thank you for the correction. Your right as to why i thought it belonged to the orbies family, but yes a fishing spider makes much more sense. thanks again :-)
