Hello all! I apologize that I haven't been as active on deviantART recently. I struggle with finding the time because it seems to really get noticed I have to submit my artwork to as many groups as possible, and that takes me a lot of time. I'm going to make an attempt to spend more time here, but in the event that I don't, I wanted to give you all a list of places where you can find my artwork where I'm a bit more active. I have two separate accounts on most, one for my fine artwork (Brandi Miller Art) and one for cutesy characters and products (Dorky Dino) Feel free to follow me on any (or all!) of the following websites:

Facebook: and
Twitter: brandimillerart and @DorkyDinoGifts
Instagram: brandimillerart and @ DorkyDino
Etsy: and

I hope to see you there!

FrancescaDelfino recently ran a still life contest. There were tons of amazing entries, but here are the three winners:

It's been a while since I've done a new journal entry! I know I say this every time, but I've been really busy! I'm working on planning my wedding, and I'm getting closer! Glad to finally feel like I'm getting some of it done.

I've started adding a lot more items to my Etsy shop for Brandi Miller Art, so if you were interested in buying some of my art that would be a great place to check! I still have lots more to add, so keep checking back.

My "Dungeons and Dragons" photo was purchased to be used on the cover of a book! The book can be purchased here. Pretty cool!

Easter cards are available in my Dorky Dino shop again!

I recently joined Behance. It's a really great art website and so far it seems to be full of amazing professionals with brilliant work. I'm excited to run around looking at new work and inspiration! I've also started uploading some of my artwork there. My profile can be found at If you have an account, feel free to follow me there! My premium membership has ran out again, so I opened point donations on my page if anyone has points they'd like to contribute. I use the premium membership to do features of people's artwork, make polls so I can learn more about you and what you like, give critiques to help you learn, and get critiques to help me learn. =) Feel free to donate, but don't feel obligated. I just like to have it there as an option. (No feature today since I can't post thumbnails without a premium membership.)

I'm going to be a vendor at G.A.M.E. in Springfield, MO. G.A.M.E. stands for Gaming Arts Media Expo and it's a big event with lots of tabletop, role playing, card, and video games, as well as costume contests and tons of other stuff. It's going to be October 4th through the 7th in Springfield, Missouri. I'll be selling my Dorky Dino products, along with some of my other artwork. Also sharing a booth with me will be my friend Ajala, who will be selling some of her artwork, jewelry, etc. You can find more information, and register for the expo at If you're going to be there, be sure to come see me at my booth!

I just recently moved to a new apartment, which is awesome because that means I have a lot more room for all my art stuff! The bad side is we're still not done unpacking and painting. Things have been a little hectic lately. Since I'll be busy with this, I'm going to go ahead and close commissions until I get all settled in. I'll still be posting artwork here on dA, as well as selling finished things at Dorky Dino and Brandi Miller Art, so if you want something that's already made you can definitely purchase it there.

Dorky Dino's fall seasonal items are back in stock! There are cute fall and Halloween themed necklaces and greeting cards and they can all be bought at They'll be gone again when the season is over, so be sure to get them soon!

I also still have some free pendants available that I'll be giving away with each order, so be sure to order quick before they're all gone!

I favorite a lot of cute things, so let's do another feature with the theme of "cute," shall we? ^_^

Internship and Feature

Sun Aug 12, 2012, 10:56 AM

My graphic design internship was set to end on the 31st of this month, but on Friday I was offered a second internship! That means I will be able to stay at my internship until November 30th. I'm very excited to be able to stay there longer! I really feel like I am learning a lot. Sorry that I haven't been as active on deviantART recently. I work almost all day at the internship and then when I get home it's usually dedicated to working on commissions, most of which I haven't even posted here yet. I have a lot to post, so look forward to that!

I have a friend who does some really amazing artwork, but she hasn't got much attention on deviantART yet. I thought I would share some of her works, so here is a feature of my talented friend Ajala. Please check out her works and if you like them, you should give her a watch so you can see more!

Behind the Scenes

Sat Jul 21, 2012, 6:49 PM

I did a blog post on my blog a while back with some behind the scenes photos and info on my photography. I thought the people here on deviantART might be interested in seeing it, too. Here's the link to the post:… It shows what goes into my photography and how I set things up. It could be helpful for photographers, or just interesting to see how I work.

I entered another contest at WeReallyLovePhotos, so if you'd like to, you can vote for me in this poll: ladyfataphotography.deviantart…

I was tagged again. This time by :iconoatcaker:

Rule #1: You must post these rules.
Rule #2: Each person must post 10 things about themselves on their journal.
Rule #3: Answer the questions the tagger set for you, and create ten new questions for the people you tag to answer.
Rule #4: You have to choose 5 people to tag and post their icons on your journal.
Rule #5: Go to their pages and tell her/him that you have tagged them.
Rule #6:No tag backs

10 Things About Me:

1.) I never used to believe this, but I'm pretty sure I'm a workaholic. I tend to take on more than I really should, but it's nice because usually staying busy keeps me motivated.
2.) I'm on the Internet way more than any person should be.
3.) I think sushi is really pretty and I love to look at it, and take photos of it, but I can't stand the taste. I'm not a fan of fish, veggies, or white rice.
4.) I've only ever been to one convention, but I really want to go to more. I just don't have the money for it currently.
5.) My favorite desserts are actually brownies and rice krispie treats, but I think cupcakes look the cutest.
6.) I almost never curse. Usually the only time I do is if I'm quoting something.
7.) I play Dungeons and Dragons, but I have never been a dungeon master because I feel like I don't know enough about it.
8.) My favorite show right now is Adventure Time.
9.) My favorite color is green, but I tend to use blue more in my art.
10.) I love horror video games, but I get really scared when I play them, and can only play them during the daytime when someone else is in the same room as me.

Tagged Questions:

1.) Does you have a pet, bro?
I have a Shiba Inu named Yoshi, a Red Tailed Boa named Mr. Slitherkins, and two hermit crabs named Captain Scuttles and Crepe.

    2.) Chocolate or vanilla?

3.) There is a worm on the ground, groaning about something. You bend down to hear what he's saying and he spits in your face. TROLOLOL. Now what?
I donate the worm to science. A worm that can not only talk, but can also troll?

4.) Have you ever watch Fullmetal Alchemist? If you're not Jennifer, you need to watch it now.
Kind of. D= I was watching it on my fiance's computer because he had a digital copy, but his computer crashed and he lost most of his anime! I need to get it again so I can finally finish it.

5.) If you could instantly learn any language, what would it be?
That is a hard one. Probably either Japanese or German. I think I'd choose Japanese because I'd think it would be harder to learn with the characters and everything.

6.) One guy has AIDS, the other just lost his leg to a deadly flesh eating disease, who is more unfortunate?
The guy with AIDS is more unfortunate because it's incurable. The guy who lost his leg can still live a long, healthy life.

7.) Why are you still here?
Still on deviantART, or still answering questions? I'm still on deviantART because I got kind of addicted! I love that it's a place where I can always find new and interesting art, and I love that I can share my art with others and see what they think. I'm still answering questions because they are fun!

8.) Ever heard of Asperger's Syndrome? YOU HAVE NOW.
Yes, I have! My brother has Asperger's Syndrome.

9.) You're on an island with a monkey, with nothing to eat. Do you eat the monkey, or do you eat his shit? LOL.
O_o I would probably try to find what the money was eating, because if he can poop he's got to be eating something!

10.) What do you think of my questions?
They are interesting. lol

Questions for those I am tagging:

1.) What is your favorite color?
2.) What color do you use most in your art?
3.) Why are you on deviantART?
4.) If you could have any one super power, what would it be?
5.) If you could be any one person for a day, who would you be?
6.) What is the answer to life, the universe, and everything?
7.) Do you cook? Have a favorite recipe you'd like to share? (If you don't cook, share your favorite store bought food.)
8.) Who is your favorite artist on deviantART?
9.) Who is your favorite artist outside of deviantART?
    10.) Do you like waffles?

Today I'm doing a feature on :icongrandmathunderpants:, because she was kind enough to give me a premium membership. Thank you! She has really awesome work. I'm always impressed at how small she can do little details! I was watching her do a livestream once, and she was doing giveaways in between sculpting, and I won a cute rainbow unicorn! It is really adorable and the details are amazing! She does giveaways a lot, so definitely watch out for those!

Sadly my premium membership ran out. I'm currently accepting point donations on my page if anyone is interested in contributing. I use the premium membership to do features of people's artwork, make polls so I can learn more about you and what you like, give critiques to help you learn, and get critiques to help me learn. =) Feel free to donate, but if you can't, that's fine, too.

EDIT The lovely :icongrandmathunderpants: gave me a premium! I will post a feature of her in my next entry. In the mean time, go check out her gallery. =D

I recently joined Twitter, after putting it off for a very long time. Now I'm looking for followers and people to follow! If you'd like, follow me at brandimillerart. I post a mixture of stuff about my art and nerdy stuff. Let me know if you're on Twitter, and perhaps we can follow each other!

I entered a photography contest at :iconwereallylovephotos:, so it would be super awesome if you could vote for me in this poll: ladyfataphotography.deviantart… Or just pick your favorite and vote for it, as there are lots of great entries. ^_^

My commissions are currently open! If you'd like more info, check this journal entry.

2) Each person MUST post 5 things about themselves in their journal.
3) Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
4) You have to choose 11 people to tag and post their icons on your journal.
5) Go to their page and tell them you have tagged them.
7) No stuff in the tagging section about "You're Tagged If You're Reading This" You legitimately have to tag 11 people.

5 things:
1) I consider myself a nerd, and am not ashamed of it. I love video games, Internet, and anime.
2) I will play board games for hours on end if you let me. >_>
3) I don't like cheesecake, and most people think that's strange.
4) I am engaged and am planning a wedding. (Well, trying to plan a wedding. It's hard!)
5) My favorite My Little Pony is Fluttershy. I think her personality is the closest to mine. I love animals and am very shy in person.

1) What color are your eyes?
Most people think my eyes are brown. They look brown from a distance, but are actually hazel (a mixture of green and brown).
2) Do you think you are pretty?
I'm happy with the way I look, but I also don't think I'm very pretty most of the time.
3) Are you short or tall? Or somewhere in between?
I'm 5'5" which is pretty average for a girl, but my fiance thinks I'm short. =P
4)Have you ever played Dungeons and Dragons? If not, have you heard of it?
I love Dungeons and Dragons! I play weekly with a group of friends.
5) What are you answering this on, a laptop, an ipod, a netbook...?
I'm using a desktop PC.
6) What grade are you going into?
I've already graduated high school and college. I'm currently doing an internship.
7) Do you like school?
I absolutely love school! I miss it.
8) Do you agree with me that my questions are quite stupid?
No, I think they're good questions!
9) How many best friends do you have?
Hmm, that's hard to say. I think maybe 2 right now. Plus my 3 sister-in-laws who I consider pretty close friends.
10) Are any of them on deviantART?
One of them is! She's :iconajala:. You should check her out because her artwork is amazing!

7 years now! =O

My questions:
1) What websites do you visit most often?
2) What is your favorite color?
3) Do you use Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Explorer, or a different browser?
4) What is your favorite dessert?
5) What is your favorite food (non-dessert)?

7) Do you collect anything? If so, what?
8) What would you do if I turned into a zombie?
9) What is your favorite deviation in my gallery?
10) What is your favorite deviation on all of deviantART?
11) What is your favorite deviation in your gallery?

Thu May 31, 2012, 2:52 PM

I was offered a paid summer internship at a marketing firm! I start my new internship on Monday doing graphic design work. Since it's only for the summer I still need to keep looking for a full time job, but I'm happy to have this as some extra experience. I'm very excited!

On Etsy I can now accept credit and debit cards, which means you can order from me even if you don't have Paypal. Here are my Etsy shops:

Graduation and Published

Mon May 7, 2012, 2:33 PM

I finally graduated from university! My graduation was Saturday and now I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design and a minor in photography. I'm excited to finally be done! Now I'm starting on the job hunt. I currently have a part time job but am looking for a full time job that will hopefully be my new career. I'll have more free time to work on commissions, too, so if you're interested in anything please note me.

I have another awesome announcement! My photograph, "Dungeons and Dragons," was purchased by Open Court Publishing and used for the cover of their new book, "Dungeons and Dragons and Philosophy!" The book comes out this fall and you'll be able to purchase it here.

Don't forget that if you want to own some of my original artwork, you can buy it at my Etsy shop. I added a new print to it recently.

Senior Show and Necklace Chains

Wed Apr 25, 2012, 4:33 PM

At my university we do something called a "senior show" where the graduating art students each get a space in the gallery to show their work. My senior show officially opened today! It features my graphic design portfolio as well as some of my other artwork. I worked really hard on it, so it's great to see it all up and put together. If you're in the Missouri area, feel free to come see it. It's at the Gallery of Art & Design at University of Central Missouri, 217 Clark Street, Warrensburg, MO, 64093. The gallery hours are Monday-Friday 8am - 5pm, Thursday 8am - 8pm, and Saturday 12pm - 4pm. The show will be up until May 4th. If you come by, there's a book for you to sign and leave comments in so I know you came, and you can feel free to take business cards.

Were you interested in ordering a necklace from Dorky Dino, but want a necklace longer than 16"? I now have 18" necklace chains available. If you'd like that with your necklace just put it in your note when you order from Etsy, or contact me for a custom order.

Booth and Portrait Feature

Wed Apr 11, 2012, 7:17 PM

Sorry I haven't been very active on here lately. I'm coming to the end of my very last semester in university and I've been extremely busy! I'm working on final projects in all of my classes, getting ready for graduation, and preparing for my senior show where I will be displaying my portfolio and some of my artwork.

This Saturday (4/14/12) I will have a booth at the Old Drum Festival in Warrensburg, Missouri. It's from 10AM to 6PM at 302 North Main Street. I'll be sharing a booth with Geek Details, so come by and see us both if you're in the area!

Here is the last of my portrait features for now. I'll have something different next time.
