Dime Store Davey

This was an illustration I did for Model Cars Magazine. It was part of a customizing article on the infamous Trabant car. One of my suggestions was a dime-store ride. I wanted an excuse to paint a "Weird-Oh!" character anyway. They were originally from the 60's and created by artist Bill Campbell for Hawk models. I tried to copy his style for this piece. It was a lot of fun. I got good feedback on the rat that was knocked out cold from chewing through the wires. Acrylic on illustration board.

This art style screamed 60s car art the second I saw it, so excellent job evoking that era so well here. Well done!

That's sweet! I've built some of the old Hawk kits and have built a home made model of the Weird-Oh's outhouse dragster which is displayed with my custom Hot Wheels. Love your art, nice job as usual!
